There is certainly going back. Technological civilization is extremely fragile, and the more advanced it is the more fragile it becomes and the greater the fall.

I think the reintroduction of chattel slavery at least as likely as your scenario over the next hundred years.

Where do you get "4 feet tall" from? The only rumoured height I've read about is 30 feet.

 

That's his plan....but his numbers don't check out. So even if he got the money he proposed was necessary, it'd only be around 4 feet tall. His proposed wall would cost a lot more than he's telling people or even believes himself.

 

They may not be outwardly trying to equalize income, but in essence, they are trying to get to a place where everyone makes just about the same. Taxing the rich heavier than the poor? Universal healthcare? These programs all seek to put people onto a level playing field. Bernie Sanders, a social democrat, was all about welfare programs that equalized pretty much everything. Granted, he's an extremist. But even moderate liberals want more equality in things, it's just how they go about doing it that separates them from the authoritarian leftists like Stalin. Progressivism is about moving society forward and creating change, and conservatism is about maintaining a status quo, I'll give you that. But liberals do want to have a more equal society. Their ultimate goal is to have fairly equal income, they're just taking baby steps. Just like the right wing, too. Through compromises and such, you get a watered down version of everything. But you're telling me that, if you took away the people's voices, and got rid of the right wing, that the left wouldn't try to equalize everything?

The left in the US does not have a goal of equality. Their policies favor the established and seek to place barriers on competition. True liberals goals are not equality of outcome, but equality of opportunity. The U.S. left's goals are control.

Sure, equal opportunity. But because they can't actually change people's opportunities, they have to equalize things that they can control.

 

Australia also has the Great Barrier Reef that is very effective keeping people that have lots of problems out of Australia, and those problems with Aussies. Those people who are bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some could be liberals from America who said they were going to move to a predominantly white country like Australia if Donald Trump became President.

 

They need to protect potential opportunity. There is no need to control anything.
