Your verbiage implied it was a long standing tradition. Why does Trump's reasoning have to include Obama? Maybe he just wants to be secretive. Maybe he just thinks given the media climate, it's easier to not have to answer silly questions about every visitor. Maybe he thinks since Obama is factually the worst president in US history, doing things the way the good presidents did them, makes more sense.

White House visitors logs were matters of public record until the George W Bush adminstration.

Bush and company began to hide them after they were embarrassed by the kerfuffle that erupted when a fake "reporter" for a website called Talon News asked Bush a real softball question using Rush Limbaugh talking points.

The rest of the White House press corp had had it with this guy and started asking who he really was.

It turned out that this "reporter" had never worked in journalism at all. He had been a bookeeper in a Philadelphia body and fender business, and a gay prostitute. His "credentials" came from having taken an course at the right wing Leadership Institute (which is run by Media Research Center). The Leadership Institute is also home to fake video producer James O'Keefe. What was embarrassing to the White House was that he had appeared on White House visitor logs dozens of times, often late at night.

After that, they hid the visitor logs. Cheney even went to court to hide his.

 

This is an attack on the US, nothing less. It is war.

Ok, by what standard IS this a melt down? It doesn't seem like anyone really in this thread agrees this even classifies as a melt down, in any remote way. If there is a Richter scale of melt downs, this is a zero.

He's right about the leak problem and if you are going to roll heads, it only fair to make it very clear than you mean it:

Department of Justice Attorney General Jeff Sessions said he would soon be making an announcement regarding the progress of leak investigations. A DOJ official declined to comment on Circa’s inquiry into Baker but did say, the planned announcement by Sessions is part of the overall "stepped up efforts on leak investigations."

Baker is the top suspect in an ongoing leak investigation, but Circa has not been able to confirm the details of what national security information or material was allegedly leaked.

Looks like a leak of an investigation leak, but, in a few days we should see if this holds water.

 

The OP links a video, so I assumed the other links were transcripts. The video in no way shows anyone melting down. BUT, now that I read the original thing they they are talking about, the chat with that ****** from the New Yorker, why yes, yes that is a melt down. LOL

 

I mistook the video in the OP to be what we are talking about. He is very calm in the video. The actual topic however, now that I read that, I give that about a solid 7.
