Why did Trump suddenly escalate the rhetoric against N. Korea?

It is a not so subtle message to the Chinese government that they better do something fast to halt North Korean advancement in their technology beyond where it is right now or else we will.

I don't think he escalated anything, this is just the way he is. It rubs some people the wrong way, others love it.

The media continuing to put out story after story about how something Trump said is evil, however, is getting really old.

I actually kinda like it but would have made sure to say".... we will strike BACK if you hit us and will [fire and whatever else Trump said]...."

I would have added a bit of a jest in it to show lil kim he is a child taunting the world.

"I will add a little recent US cultureby saying that if Kim attacks the US mainland, it's territories or allies, we will retaliate with Fire and Blood!!!!"

lol, kidding....kinda, but what if right?!?!?

I think I'll just stop responding to all those right-wingers who either can't read, or refuse to understand that North Korea's threats did not start last week, as Trump's escalation rhetoric did. Read the OP, and if you have something worthwhile to comment, go for it.

The right tries to minimizes this by reducing it to things like "rubbing people the wrong way". It's about people getting killed!

Anybody who loves war cannot be completely sane. They are definitely out of touch with the real world.

There has been more violence perpetrated by the Left than there has been by the Right, so your statement doesn't add up to scrutiny.

The truth is that they have a different opinion of things than you, in order to create fear you say these opinions will kill people. The Right is not innocent as they do the same thing to you guys.

Like you war comment .... WTF does that even mean? Trump has not said he wants to go to war, you guys have siad that about Trump. Hillary for instance wanted to go to war in Syria more than Trump as well, but it didn't matter there, right?

These things all obviously have NOTHING to do with actual politics, all they are is attempts to discredit your opponent (Trump) with slander and fearful statements, it's pathetic.

But we have gotten to a point where both of you guys are defending your stance and attacking your opponents by saying people are literally going to die.

This is a horrible way to treat politics as it is immature and makes coming together impossible.

Time is not on our side. Time brings the obliteration of the USA if there is inaction.

North Korea isn't a "they" when it comes to threats of nuclear attack. It is specifically Kim Jung Un.

At no time have Pakistan or India threatened to use their nuclear weapons against anyone and at no time before has the dictator and Chinese surrogate of N. Korea every been in an imminent position to be able to carry out his threats.

By the logic of the Democrats on this forum, there is absolutely no reason to take any action to prevent ISIS or the Taliban from having ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads. The IDENTICAL logic used about Kim Jung Un would apply to the leadership of ISIS and the Taliban - or any other country or group.

Many Democrats and leftwing zippy pinhead Americans are going to get over 100 million people killed and the USA obliterated, permanently reduced to 3rd world status, if they get their way.

Your first sentence is extremely hyperbolic.

Think it through. At the first launch with a trajectory which is even remotely aimed at the US or it's allies, we have the capability of raining down hundreds of our own ICBMs. They are perfectly aware of this fact.

It is intellectually easy, in fact rather lazy, to assume Kim Jung-Un is suicidal. He, or his father before him, could have plunged the DPRK into war at any point within the last 50 years if suicide was their intent. The introduction of nuclear weapons just gives them, in their eyes, more of a bargaining chip.

Kim Jung-Un's generals are keenly aware of this. He can only assassinate so many of them until he has no generals left to carry out his orders. This is why time is on our side.

A preemptive strike without a justifiable incident almost guarantees the entire region going to war, and the way Trump has treated the Chinese, one cannot be assured they will be on our side.

As for your comment on India and Pakistan; they created their own nukes because they hate each other. And Kim Jong-Un is not a puppet dictator of the Chinese.

Certainly, Kim should be put down (interpret that however you wish), but Trump is milking this situation for all it's worth, and will retain his "BULLY" pulpit as long as possible to raise his approval in a failing administration.

Trump is strutting and puffing out his chest like rooster. . . . Narcissism is alive and rejuvenated.

WOW Trump and Chendy and Bush all lumped in together in one post quite a score with your conjecture filled post. And BTW the jusitifcation to remove Saddam was established in 1998, Bush just inherited the policy after Clinton failed.

For how many years have they had the capability of striking it with ICBM's? How many years have they been on the verge of miniaturizing a nuclear warhead to put on top of one of those ICBM's. Anb you don't believe that is an escalation..........amazing.

Now there is a purposefully vague statement. I don't know if that's true or not. Nor do I care. Nor does it have any relevance whatsoever.

Anybody, on any side of the spectrum. Left, ,right, center, up, down, main, alt, .... who loves war (which is what you said) is not completely sane. There are discussions in which "left" or "right" ideology are relevant. Trying to insert ideology into a discussion like this is typical of the blind ideologue.

It means exactly what I said: the attempt to minimize objections to this war-language by Trump by calling them "rubbing people the wrong way" is a sign of being out of touch with reality.

There you go again. So what? I don't care if their last name is Trump, Clinton, Bush, Obama, ... Anybody who minimizes war is out of touch. And anybody who "loves" war is not sane.

Again: war is not an ideological issue. Ideology has absolutely nothing to do with war, or with the reasons why we should all take it very seriously.

It is true that, in our country, recently it has been right-wing followers the more inclined towards easily declaring wars. But it's also true that in other countries and in other periods in time, it has been the left. It has nothing to do with ideology.

What is really pathetic are all these efforts to defend Trump against his own words. He is the one doing the talking and escalating the rhetoric.

And it's not just about this issue. Have you noticed how the first thing Trump does when anything negative happens, is find ways to justify that it's not his fault? And then his followers fall in line to defend his words. But they are his words.

Yesterday (Virginia) was an example: first words out of his mouth regarding the issue were to say that it was not his fault.

There are circumstances in which a war is unavoidable. But people die in wars. Nobody should be allowed to minimize the effects of war. Nobody should be allowed to "love" war. And the tendency of Trump and his followers to minimize these these things is extremely disturbing.

There is no way I can come together with somebody who "loves" or even minimizes war. They just need to change their rhetoric.

If that is so, then why did Trump wait until last week to escalate his saber-rattling rhetoric? That's the question pose, not only on the OP, but even in the title of this thread.

Remember: reading is not as bad as they tell you on your wingnut programs. It can spare you from making foolish remarks like that one.

BTW, do you know that the "miniturizing" part came from only one of the Intelligence Agencies. All of which you were questioning their credibility not long ago for saying that there was more than enough evidence that Russia intervened in our elections. And, even worse, the one agency that turned out to be wrong in 2013 when they stated the same thing. In any case, not an intelligence community consensus, like the Russia attack was.

Maybe they did, maybe the didn't ...But Trump and Trump supporters relying solely on intelligence data as an argument for anything is pure unadulterated hypocrisy.

Of course you want me to stop responding. Because you were one of the dopes who posted the dumb point because you didn't read.

That's because North Korea's showdown of missiles is going to prove that United States is a sitting duck against North Korea missiles. Trump suddenly raised voice, because he want to make North Korea give up firing missiles with strong warning.

More personal attacks, color me surprised!

Your entire response is a crystal clear cut message of how the Democratic party is acting right now and it is what is pushing away much of the voter base. Just heard Bill Maher on CNN and he was talking about how horribly PC and anti-free speech a lot of the Left has/is become/becoming. Your points are what he is talking about.

Instead of actually talking about the fact at hand, you break down each individual comment and personally attack the source from which they come from. Then you chose how to personally attack and shut down each converstaion, instead of debating with your ideals and letting them speak for themselves. Bill is right, it is a very authoritarian way of doing things.

I have made the obvious point that Trump has acted with more success in the NK situation than any previous president, the newest sanctions backed by the rest of the world are a very positive thing, even though you don't want to admit it. You still are doing line for line the whole "Trump is the Devil" thing, followed by refusing to acknowledge how different your ideals have become now that he is president.

    I rest my case....

I have zero interest in baby sitting you or breaking everything down so you can avoid the conversation and try to pick different words off. I simply do not care about these tactics, they are childish and pointless. I have made my point, you have rebutted... I guess, so be it. Feel free to carry on with your personal attacks now.

The last test was last month. But he waited until a week ago to "raise: his voice. Exactly when it becomes known that the Russia investigation is now looking at financial records of those involved.

Terrible timing. Not to mention the fact that it's altogether clear that they are wrong.

In any case, do you realize how North Korea and, more importantly, the allies we would need on our side if we ever decided there was a need to attack. As well as those that we don't want on N. Korea's side. As a matter of fact, Japan and South Korea are already showing signs of distancing themselves from Trump. And China has vowed to defend NK if Trump attacks first.

Great job, Mr. Trump! You're already losing a war that hasn't even started.
