So you support Antifa? They were certainly the lesser of two evils for all their faults

I support our history not being removed or rewritten, or hidden away from public view. That is a greater evil than anything that happened the other day.

“Use all the negroes you can get, for all the purposes for which you need them, but dont arm them. The day you make soldiers of them is the beginning of the end of the revolution. If slaves will make good soldiers our whole theory of slavery is wrong, but they wont make soldiers. As a class they are wanting in every qualification of a soldier.”
    -General Howell Cobb

    *NOT General Robert E Lee*

Lee specifically advised the Confederacy to arm the slaves on multiple occasions and offer freedom in exchange for service.

The history you are so eager to defend is the Jim Crow history of the teens and twenties

I think we can both agree that Jesus' (their #1 role model) acceptance of slavery in the NT (and god's acceptance of slavery in the OT) was just terrible for blacks.

The individual solider? You mean the guy who turned down the role to fight on the good side so he could keep his ******s in chains? Let's not pretend Lee was just a soldier following orders. The man did what he thought was right: fight to keep ******s down.

If images of Mohammad were allowed in Islam, Muslims would certainly do that.

The Bible gives him the RIGHT to own slaves.....so is the Bible wrong, or is the anti-slavery movement wrong? Either their god is wrong, or being against slavery is wrong....which is it?

Except that the Bible does NOT allow kidnapping for slavery. On the contrary, it imposes the DEATH PENALTY for those who engage in the slave trade. See Exodus 21:16 ~ He who steals a man, and sells him, or keeps him in captivity shall be put to death.

Was Lee a Mormon?....because the Mormon texts say that blacks are inferior because their dark skin is a result of a punishment from god. That sounds even crazier than, say, Scientology, I know, but it's true.

The Bible is so warped that it says you get away Scot-free if you BEAT TO DEATH A SLAVE AS LONG AS THE DEATH DRAGS OUT PAST A FEW DAYS!
"When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)

Therefore, I'm not sure that the Bible is any better than, say, a Nazi prison camp guard.

Lincoln was a big believer in the Bible, so I understand why he'd be such a bigot and not be against slavery as much as one might think.

Sorry, but slavery was not the core issue of the Civil War.

He was very opposed to slavery. He not only saw it as cruel, but he saw it as a leader to 'race mixing.' He didn't want blacks in america at all. Not as slaves nor freed.

As property of white citizens, it was impossible to get rid of them. But if they were free, they could potentially be convinced to leave on their own. To be clear- Lincoln never suggested that he wished any harm or force on to blacks. But He did view them as inferior and wanted them gone.

Yes, the Bible is against miscegenation, so I understand why Lincoln was such a racist pig. Let's remove him from the penny.

The Jewish death-camps where arguably (certainly at the time) NOT the "core issue of the" second world war, but in no way does that (like slavery in the Civil War) lesson it's barbarity and savagery. The Confederates were barbaric and savage for approving of slavery (but the Bible approves of slavery to this very day so I guess they are only as bad as god/Jesus.)

Most, the majority of Americans believed in slavery. Heck, when I got drafted, they approved the Army making me a slave.
You are like a prisoner of the Government in the Army. They even numbered me and made me wear name tags.

Even with the worst possible connotation to Lincoln's words, they are not relevant to the issue. Lincoln (despite any flaws in his views or in his character) is remembered for ending slavery and preserving the union - so there is something positive to celebrate and remember. The Confederate leaders only notoriety is that they led the fight to preserve slavery.
