REPORT: Secret Service out of money to pay agents because of Trump's frequent travel

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The Secret Service is reportedly tapped out on funds to pay hundreds of agents.

It's in large part to an increased workload covering the president, his family and their residences, according to USA Today.

The paper, citing an interview with the director of the Secret Service, reports more than 1,000 agents have already hit federally-mandated salary caps and overtime limits on funds which were meant to last the entire year.

Agents have to secure Mr. Trump, his children, their families and residences, and accompany them on trips across the country and overseas.

The paper reports Trump has traveled almost every weekend to properties in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia.

The Secret Service is responsible for protecting 42 people under President Trump, including 18 relatives. They had 31 under President Barack Obama.

The paper reports the director is reaching out to lawmakers to ask for more funding.

So the great golfer and chief is running the SS broke. This from the man who would never leave the WH. This from the man who promised to work, work, work. This from the man who slammed Obama over and over again for doing far less.

You put a thug in office and are now paying $120,000 a year just for his golf carts. And guess what. That money goes to Trump. Those are his golf carts in the first place.

What a freaking racket! And Trumpers fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

So are they salary plus overtime?

Its a demanding job I'm sure, maybe its time to review their pay structure in light of the circumstances. Give them a raise, straight salary to include a bump for overtime and it would be managed better. If you give them overtime, you will run into situations like this for a job that demands 24 hr protection and other demands on their time. They already have a pretty good pay from what the article states.

Either that, or hire more secret service members to cut back the hours demanded on the current crew.

 

You guys should read the original article, the SS isn't broke but have maxed out salary caps on several agents. This started in 2014 and last year they were allowed to only hire 300 additional agents due to budget allowances from the federal government, then add Trump having a bigger family that are world travelers and you get to where you are today.

 

Yes but the overtime is capped and congress only allowed them to add 300 workers to the force last year, they need more. The shortfall started in 2014.

 

Understood, but I'm kinda stating the overtime should not exist under the circumstances of their duties. It should not be salary plus overtime on a job that has 24hr, 365 day a year demands. Its impossible to budget under the circumstance if you add overtime to their benefits, increase their salary to adjust and get rid of overtime and its budgeted easier for a year.

A soldier in the battlefield is expected to be ready 24hrs 365, Im not sure overtime is included as an example of a job that has similar demands and would also be a budgeting nightmare if it did.

All sitting Presidents should have restrictions on number of travel days. We've seen too many of the recent hires abusing a liberal travel policy.

 

Trump is on par to spend in the first year what Obama spent in eight years. Enjoying the tax dollars also being forked over to his personally owned businesses while he is there with the SS. Can't dispute those facts.

 

Trump, since day one, has not deserved any Secret Service protection in the least. He's a supposed billionaire, even though there's no facts to back that claim up, so why can't he take out his own checkbook, and buy his won bodyguards out? If Trump thinks the country loves him, why doesn't he take the challenge of going into deep blue Chicago, without protection, on Black Friday, and claim everybody loves him.

 

This is the least of what the Trump family of grifters will suck dry before they are finally gone.

 

This is about Trump, not Obama. Stay on subject.

Obama as CnC didn't reduce the size of the military, he replaced warriors with drag queens, peter puffers and Susie Rotten Crotch and allowed the military to deteriorate to the state that it is in today where planes are literally falling out of the sky.

 

If the MSM and Democratic Party did not continuously urge assassination directly and indirectly by false and inflammatory attacks there would be such a great need for SS, would there?

 

Remember your posting you'd "spit in his (President Trump) face?" The reason so much secret service is needed is because of people of the view that you declared you have.
