The only complaint I heard about the Orange Dildo's Monday statements was that it was what The dildo should have said on Saturday.

The buck stops with the potus. That's the problem.
When general LeMay was egging on JFK to start a nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis, we had a thoughtful, brave and experienced person making the final decisions.
If trump's generals are of the same weak caliber as he is, there is no adult actually running the country.
Seeing the sort of people willing to work for trump, I don't have much confidence that the military types that surround him are any better than the rest of his kakistocracy.

    Obviously.

And, a lot of them would vote different (NOW) if given the chance.

But, it is what it is.

The Presidency was hijacked by about 1/4 of Americans who bought into the Trump BS.

That don't leave to many once Iraq and Iran are removed from the solution. Moreover do we really want to give up the leverage over China. He who controls the spice and all that.

The Taliban can easily defeat the US without attacking our troops if they wanted to. All they have to do is kill the Afghan collaborators who help the US. For instance, if they see any local interacting in any fashion with the US personnel they simply kill that person. There's no defense against that. The Vietnamese conducted that kind of operation. Since it's impossible to protect everyone the US would find it impossible to operate in the country and have to leave. They could easily force the local security forces to blow up the entire parliament. It's a brutal way to fight but it's the easiest way for the locals to defeat the outside military forces.

We've been in Afghanistan for almost 17 years. It's cost us a fortune. At this point I think that the Taliban and our foreign enemies want us to stay there so that it will drain us and make us weak enough to attack. It's in our best interest to leave in order to maintain our strength. At some point we will leave. It's better to leave on our own terms than to leave in defeat.

Nope. They'll support him no matter what he does. Just as Obama was supported by democrats when his peace candidacy turned out to be a fraud.

Afghanstan has been the graveyard of empires. That will not change. The terrain, the culture. If you want to win there, it requires killing every man, woman child, so the place is scrubbed clean of life. But what have you really won, when the same kind of culture will come back in from the outside? Yes, the forever war, which is what the military industrial Intel complex salivate over.

Trump is just another useless idiot, flip flopping on what elected him. If his supporters support him again, they are the idiots too. They need to elect someone who has the balls to take on the deep state burocracy who do the bidding of the rich ruling elites. War is a Racket, which enriches a few at the top. Expending the blood of the peasants. This never changes. I guess peasants are just too stupid? Well, they are peasants.

The ruling elite and their puppets are whipping trump's arse, and as Bannon said the man is DONE. And he didn't even fight that hard. What a wimp.

I don't think he will lose his base over this. They wont like it but will have to live with it. Trump also criticized BO the peep for not listening to his Generals. They can't say Trump didn't listen to his. As that is who got him to change his mind. With Mattis getting most of the credit.

Well, to be fair, I didn't.(His temperament I thought, was unsuited for Oval Office.) And while I was right, I did want the Revolution to succeed. My disappointment is but one of the latest setbacks.

With one big exception. Under Obama, you had to call and get permission to fire back.

    You make very good points.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean with your final point. I believe that if we left right now, it would be a defeat. I think that any potential for a successful result requires us to stay actively engaged.

Success will not look like a conventional victory. Afganistan proper, will not be conquered or defeated.
