Attempting to overthrow the government is treason. I'm not sure how all of that went because I wasn't born then, but it's closer to treason than leaving and wanting to be left alone.

If the "cause" was that important to them then and the states were being put up for purely historical reasons then within a few years. Do you not suspect that there is something wrong with the fact that those statues start plopping up right during the civil rights law implementation ? Isn't that just a bit suspicious?

Benedict Arnold was a terrific General. He was **** on pretty badly, passed over for command that should have been his. In Augusta, Maine whereI grew up there is a great display of the room Benedict Arnold slept in in Fort Western on the Kennebec River, before making his grueling expedition north to attack Quebec. It's a wonderful display to walk through and study. It was amazing the hardships those men endured in the great woods of Northern Maine. Pure, unforgiving wilderness back in his day.

Whether or not he was unfairly passed over that is no reason to betray your country.

Yeah real angry, that's why we're always showing up uninvited to force our views down your throats... Your silly picture is silly. The left are the ones that can't get past statues of Confederate heroes. Poor thing in the picture is clueless but fits the part of a livid lefty to a tee.

He was betraying his country by fighting on the sides of the rebels in the first place.

You people need to stop looking at history from today's point of view. Put yourself in the shoes of those who were living it. There were plenty of very good people who wanted nothing to do with the revolution, and wished to stay loyal to Britain. Doesn't make them evil. It doesn't mean they should be scratched from the history books and forgotten. Benedict Arnold did what he thought was best for him, as did those rebels who defied Britain.

I can't stand it either. That flag has been put under enough scrutiny as it is without hate groups hurting it further. I wanna rip it out and slap em with it.

Indeed... And even the swastika started out as a sacred symbol of spirituality, and remains such in other regions of the world. Supposedly, only the West identifies it with racism and hate.

"The swastika (as a character 卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious icon used in the Indian subcontinent, East Asia and Southeast Asia, where it has been and remains a sacred symbol of spiritual principles in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. In the Western world, it was historically a symbol of auspiciousness and good luck, but in the 1930s, it became the main feature of Nazi symbolism as an emblem of Aryan race identity, and as a result, it has become stigmatized in the West by association with ideas of racism, hate, and mass murder."

You heard wrong. Slave ownership was not nearly as common as the left would have you believe.

    I'd recommend neither.

    I'd suggest "American".

Ignore color completely. It is irrelevant. American culture and heritage is what matters.

Eh, it could have been a reaction to integration if that's when they were all put up, that's a possibility. I don't think it was done to rub slavery in the faces of black people though. The Confederate statue in Shreveport was put up in the 1920's, 40+ years before the Civil Rights Act. How many more of these were put up before that? And how many were put up after the city found funding for one, and how many were coincidence? You gotta take that into consideration as well.

Isn't it funny how the far right repeatedly apologizes for the hate filled and deluded far right by saying their antecedents in the Confederacy were exercising their 'constitutional right' to fight against the USA but that those who dissented against the war in Vietnam were traitors?

    Real funny.

this, in their twisted minds is OK:

If we had an honest media, I'm sure we could have a higher level of informed discussion.

This is what I believe to be the true state of affairs:

For a long time now, the left has been systematically shutting down conservative speech. As the right, more and more, went along with the political correctness, the left demanded more concessions.

The point came, where even moderates were being labeled as haters. Some of these mild-mannered individuals began to rebel against this oppression of their rights. They began to call for equal treatment. They argued that if Linda Sarsour was welcome on college campuses, surely Ann Coulter should be as well. When this reasonable path was rejected, Donald Trump was elected. His victory was a repudiation of the left's tyranny.

The left, of course, wasn't about to accept defeat. They rallied around a buzzword. "Resist!" became the cry. Obviously, if they're going to resist, there must be an easily understandable evil to resist. Suddenly everyone's a Nazi!

If there are so many evil, racist, Nazis out there to fight, the left needs a force. Someone remembered this Antifa group from the thirties and the idea caught on. Overnight, bands of leftist thugs were attacking anyone and everything they could associate with this newly created myth of Nazis under every bed.

As the mild-mannered moderates and conservatives increadingly came under attack, as the attacks became ever more violent, they realized that they couldn't just sit back and take it. Some acquiesced, others chose to keep up the struggle for their cause. This meant they had to physically defend themselves from the physical attacks they were enduring.

Once the violence began to predictably occur, guess what happened? Violent people started showing up. They first showed up to defend against the leftist thugs. Next, even more violent extremists started showing up to start trouble.

Now, those mild-mannered folk are having to drop out, leaving the stage to only the extreme groups. Thus they are still being silenced, lest they be associated with actual Nazis, as opposed to the prior imaginary ones.

Yes, the fault lies entirely with the leftist, commie scum and their base of Democrats, Globalists, and their media propagandists, who tell us what to believe.

The left NEEDS to use extreme names like calling everyone a Nazi or a KKK leader. They are so screwed in politics for the next 8+ years they need to try and do anything they can to sway opinion. They have successfully passed the Alt Right in craziness.

If you aren't a liberal extremist (in their eyes), you're a Nazi. lol
