It's a terrible place to work for extended periods of time. The whole culture is extremely depressing.

course the same people that say there is not enough to nation build their own country often are often ok with war and nation building others, we spent trillions on our two wars, imagine how much better use that could of been put to rather then retaliating against a group that bough some airplane lessons, some box cutters and stole a couple planes to commit there horrendous acts, knowing they we will overreact and spend trillions every-time that happens doesn't keep us safer - we should of retaliated with a quick targeted airstrike and that been it - and used the Trillions we spend on the two 10+ year wars nation building here at home - but for some, always enough money for war

If we can even pull that off the amount of resources needed to do it and the small number of people it could serve demands that we continue to also focus on over-population here on Earth.

I agree that this is not the time to be importing people that insist on having large families. We have enough fools already living here that still do.

Good for Japan. A bastion of the secular world. If only they would see the potential in having nuclear weapons of their own.

That's hilarious...and, sadly, true--and reinforced by our welfare policies.

Only if you find the culture super alien. Not all westerners freak out if they're not enabled to self-express and skive off as they see fit.

Where have I heard that before?

Oh,yes --- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar --- the very wealthy Gulf States.

And the West lets them get away with it while we are made to feel guilty for not letting in another hundred thousand.

Didn't find it alien, just super oppressive. Tokyo is the suicide capital of the world. There's a reason most Japanese that come here on foreign assignment don't want to go back. I've probably spent the equivalent to two years in Japan and worked closely with Japanese folks here for 15 years or so. It's not that their culture is inferior, but it is rigid.

My understanding is that the Japanese live to be in their private homes, where most of them then "go casual".

The japanese economy sells a lot of stuff in the middleast

And japan has no oil so it depends on the middle east

But its constitution prohibits overseas deployment so japn depends on the United States for that
