    Oh good lord.

Yeah, increasing competition by having more people than job openings, and having workers who will work for less, has no impact on wages.

    Try logic.

Most of the jobs illegals take are those than Americans don't want to do. Are you willing to wash dishes, clean toilets, pick fruits and veggies?

Now the illegals are members of the electricians union, or maybe the painters? Get real with your BS, sweetie.

The majority of remittances come from Americans or legal immigrants with family still in Mexico.

Should we likewise heavily tax rich people like Trump who buy goods from overseas?

Remittances don't buy anything. It's money being siphoned from our economy.

Someone may have already mentioned this but the last president to shut down the government when congress was held by his own party was Carter. Is Trump the new Jimmy Carter?

No need to worry. I just saw this posted...
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said President Donald Trump's proposed border wall with Mexico should ultimately be funded, The Washington Post reported.

"We do agree that we need to have the physical barrier on the border," he said. "We do need to have border control. We do need to enforce our borders," Ryan said. "We completely agree on that."

Ryan's remarks come as Trump threatened to shut down the federal government over funding of the wall, according to the Post.

Trump has warned he wants money for the wall included in an overall government funding bill. The bill must be signed by Trump by Sept. 30 or the government will be forced to close down.

Ryan downplayed the prospect of a government shutdown, however, saying that even if Republicans and Democrats still can't agree right away on wall funding, Congress would likely approve a stopgap extension to keep the government operating until everything is resolved, the Post reported.

I think that President Trump will end up getting Mexico to pay for this wall, but that's not going to happen prior to the wall being built. In any event, the House Speaker appears to be on board.

You must be in favour of the minimum wage then? Paying under the table is illegal whether it is to illegal or legal workers so what do you propose should happen to those employers? -

Mexico has repeated time and again that they will never pay for any wall. What part of "never" can't you understand?
