The mortality rate among under-educated whites in America is rising, which explains why so many vote

Death rates among under-educated whites (those with a high school education or less) have now surpassed blacks overall in America. In fact, mortality rates are 30 percent higher for whites between the ages of 50-54 than for blacks overall of the same age, the Princeton economists – Anne Case and Angus Deaton – said in a study released by the Brookings Institution.

“Case and Deaton find that while midlife mortality rates continue to fall among all education classes in most of the rich world, middle-aged non-Hispanic whites in the U.S. with a high school diploma or less have experienced increasing midlife mortality since the late 1990s,” Brookings said about the study.

These are exactly the areas where Trump did his best. He over-performed the most in counties with the highest drug, alcohol and suicide mortality rates, according to Shannon Monnat, a political science researcher at Penn State University.

Interesting statistics, but you seem to be making a point that doesn't correlate.

I will not waste my time looking into this "study," (that OP doesn't even bother to link or cite LOL) because I know already what I will find.

EDIT: eh, I looked at it a bit. The fallacy engaged is charting a small increment of variation in a large number to make it look more significant than it is.

For example, the difference between 1000 and 2000 events seems large, WHY THAT'S DOUBLE, THIS MUST BE A TREND!! Then you find out that the change occurred in a population of 10 billion or the like. One of the oldest "lying with stats/lying with graphs" tricks in the book. In this case, the "researchers" are trying to fool you that a relatively tiny change looks large when graphed the right way. Did they fool you?

But what I -will- do is note that

    1. Trump won white college educated voters.
    2. Trump won all three of the top income quintiles.

The above facts are enough to prove that the "Trump was elected by ignorant, disenfranchised white hillbillies" narrative is a lie, an utter fabrication, no matter how many articles the propaganda media spews out claiming that. It's not the case.

Why do they keep up the lie day in day out? Because Democrats' core constituencies consist of 1. ignorant, uneducated permanent dependents on the bottom whose votes are being bought, 2. government do-nothing employees, contractors, grantees etc. in the middle enjoying outsized benefits for little actual work, and 3. elite billionaires on the top that depend on mass low culture for their wealth and continued profit (TV, Hollywood, mass social media, internet, trial lawyers, crony capitalists). They desperately need to keep the illusions up about who the other side is because they need for group 2 not to realize how corrupt the vote buying machine from group 1 really is, and they need to provide some fictional opposition for group one to feel superior to (though they are actually superior to NO ONE).

As they are as morally insecure as all corrupt, decadent groups who live fat off of involuntary tax revenues, they need constant head and back pats that they are the good guys. It's like a thief needing to feel morally superior to worse criminals, even if the existence of the worse criminals is grossly exaggerated or outright fabricated.

Oh this thread is gonna be a trainwreck :police:

As people fall into or languish in poverty, they will live and die as poor people. Blacks have been doing it for generations (as have Native Americans), so what this illustrates has nothing to do with Trump. It illustrates that a high school diploma or less is increasingly keeping whites poor. Undoubtedly this is due to the decline of manufacturing in the US. There isn't the same level of fall-back jobs for whites as there once was. "Well, if nothing else, I can always get a job in that damn factory" is no longer a life strategy that works
