And whiney Americans like you can go too. And yes, you are whining about other people exercising their constitutional right to protest. So please leave and good riddance.

Overzealous patriotism is on full display in this thread with the number of people who think in such black and white terms that if one doesn't stand for the anthem then they're a terrorist, with no actual evidence beyond that. These are the same people who think "stand or get fired" is a good idea, which is effectively coercing patriotism, the exact opposite of what this country is about. If you have to force patriotism then it wasn't real to begin with.

Not very patriotic to force patriotism.

Exactly. Trump's exact words were musing that it would be great to see an NFL team owner go off on a player and say 'get the hell out; you're fired'.

And he's exactly right. Goodell's own players instigate the blatant insult felt by millions of Americans as a result of spoiled player's conscious decision to disrespect our unifying symbol, and Goodell is the one whining about divisive rhetoric?

    Get bent, Goodell.

One poster earlier said dead people were the ones who gave blacks the right to vote, to which I said dead people restricted their rights in the first place.

Good God would you please educate yourself on this issue? There is no Constitutional right as an employee to display your racism and hate for this country. No one is taking that right from them as a private citizen so your BS argument is just that.

Uh, the kneelers are entertainment and employees. I can turn them off and in the process their employers can fire them. No one stops them from protesting.

If you want him to fire somebody for not being patriotic, you're heavily suggesting it needs to be forced i.e. compelling obedience. Much like a slave.

Who is forcing? People are airing opinions. Just because someone has a right to refuse to stand - they're not being thrown in jail over this - doesn't mean that they're not subject to wrath or firing or the like.

So your statement is non sequitur. But: what is clear is that it is not patriotic to disrespect the flag. That's not very patriotic.

So don't come to me and whine about patriotism. Patriotism isn't defined as actually taking advantage of every liberty our freedoms allow. Just because you have a right to say or do something doesn't mean that you're not 100% boob when you do.

That's basically saying they should be rewarded for suddenly realizing that black people were humans.

No, I'm not. I'm telling you that all acts aren't equal, and if you choose to exercise a right, be prepared for the responsibilities which follow.

You - in support of these unAmerican asshats - are also accountable.

If you're suggesting to threaten someone's job over it, then yes that is coercion.

With the hysterical cry baby directing his tantrumps at a terminally-ill octogenarian war hero, the impotent GOP Congress, and the pompous National Football League, let's hope that his Justice Department Special Counsel drags his feet.

    This is fun!

Criticism of a blatantly unpatriotic act ≠ "overzealous patriotism"

That's just the bleat of a justly assailed unpatriotic person who doesn't know how to defend their actions and support any better than that pathetic attempt.

In fact, there's no value to patriotism at all if it wouldn't compel the patriot to object.

Got it. From day one his worshipers treated anyone with any criticism of Barack Obama whatsoever as either a racist (if White) or utterly confused or brainwashed (if a minority). Then leftists wondered WHY they steadily lost everything except the increasingly powerless presidency -- since any executive order can be undone by the next president -- until finally they also lost the presidency itself. For some reason Cause and Effect seems to be a mental disconnect issue for most people Left of Center.

Good for them. They're the ones who created it, so again, you don't deserve an award for that.

And who has the rulebook on what is "unpatriotic?" Civil disobedience and dissent are also forms of patriotism, hell that's the main reason America exists in the first place.

You insist on making his action about disrespecting troops. That simply was not the intent - he was protesting police brutality. You clearly don't care about his "so called cause", yet you want others to care about your perspective. Why should others listen to you if you won't listen to them?

That is because the right wing believes only the things they care about are important. Everyone else is an unpatriotic ***** to them. It is the selfishness they regularly display.

Do you know me ? No you don't. Have you read most of my comments on this issue? No you obviously have not or you do not understand the English language. You are way off base accusing me of viewing the"it" as just a flag and a song.

The Trump Turd is not defending the flag or the concept behind our flag by running his mouth on Twitter or by throwing red meat to his base.

Those who protest the way they are are wrong but they have their right to do be wrong. I served in the military to defend their right to do so just as I served to defend your right to make a fool of yourself by attacking me . I also served in the military to give thecTrump Tool the right to make a fool of himself and he is great and being a fool.

Trump is not defending the concepts that our flag or our anthem represents if he just says and tweets crap and makes personal attacks against ball players. He beds to stand above that but we all know that he cannot being the Liar in Chief.
