When people love the country, it has NOTHING to do with the leaders. It has to do with its core structure, as put to paper in the DoC; BoR and Constitution. As symbolically represented by our FLAG. We are only loyal to leaders who we believe reflect those values, and Obama wasn't one of them.

Just like Wild Horses did, you associate the elected leaders of a country with the flag of a country. That's asinine. You can absolutely despise an elected choice for office but feel exactly the same way you always did about the country and the flag.

But progs are incapable. They cannot disassociate leaders of the country from the flag of the country. Why? Because they're incapable of separating emotion from logic.

The flag stands for that which binds us. If you cannot honor it in the way we always have, it demonstrates only one thing: you're not loyal to those things which bind us; which make us Americans.

Now I have no doubt that there are legions of leftists who are too stupid and brainwashed to understand that, but it is so.

The flag represents the greatness of America. The idealized greatness. That to which we strive. It represents the Shining Beacon; the manifestation of freedom.

It does not represent evils done in its name; it does not represent corruption, racism, injustice, etc. Those things are made real by men, and evil itself.

Those who do not understand that, or - worse - and active part of promulgating those things, are the ones who are disrespecting our flag.

 

My impression is that both right and left think they are the reasonable ones and the other side is crazy.

I doubt that anyone has had any "respect" for the NFL for decades. Professional sports enterprises have never done much to earn the respect of the public.
Now they have managed to make their businesses repulsive to most of their customers.
