    I'm not a moderator and haven't been for about a year now. And the owners set the policy for both this place and the NFL. I find it ironic that you have more of an issue with the NFL players taking this stance then the owners of the teams/NFL.

    If they don't have an issue with what they do, and there is no Constitution issue at play here, then it's not much of an argument at all.

    I guarantee you the owners have a huge issue with it but they are deferring to the left on this to save themselves the pain.

    Imagine if an owner came out on the right side of this?

    I'll leave the mind reading to others and simply respond to what is. If they don't like it, they can deal with it. But at least one owner stood arm in arm so I doubt he is quietly against it.

    Could it be that it never occurred to NFL rulemakers that players wouldn't stand?

    Maybe the "should" wording refers to the way the players should stand. At attention, helmet in left hand, etc.

    You should really not comment on things you clearly know nothing about. If a team wants to fire a player they can. Goodell could not stop that. Players are fired every year.

    I think thats what it is. Basically giving instructions on how to stand during the anthem if you so desire to do so.

    But yeah I don't think anybody really anticipated players ever pulling these sorts of stunts so they never really thought about the need to make a specific regulation about it. It's one of those things that you sort of just expect everyone to do because well everyone does...Well did anyway....

    Can't really regulate what you don't know is a "thing" yet.

    We make up new regulations all the time in the military on things we never even thought about before until somebody does something that requires attention.

    His duty is to uphold the Constitution and that include free speech. As a government official, he should not have inserted himself into the fray. Trump is one clueless person, He is President Trump, NOT citizen Trump.
