No matter what political point come us, the first thing democrats do is start their identity politics to divide people according to who they think will give them the advantage and the most votes in the next election. The always divide us into men women, black white, straight homoexual, Christian Jewish Muslim Atheist, American foreign, and any other way they can divide us.

Then they tell us "we need to have a conversation" on the subject at hand. What that always means is the democrats want to do all the talking, and have it their way. As usual they want to dictate to everyone else their leftist socialist ideas.

Idk about your point on socialist ideas, but the rest of your post can be applied to the conservative side too you know.

I have come to the point where I identify certain behaviors as being found far more commonly among certain groups. This winds up with you expecting the behavior from people in the group, and suspecting people who behave that way are part of the group. Not always correct, but logical progression.

For example personal responsibility- a character value that I believe allows a huge range of abuses, and generally consists of people blaming others for what they can't control, while failing to control what actually can themselves. While it does happen in all political ideologies, I see it most prominent in the democratic/lib/progressives areas. Example-

Hillary Clinton. Now we have a book detailing why she lost the election. Now I haven't read the book, only watched a number of reports and reviews or articles. But apparently, the loss is blamed on virtually everybody except Clinton- she is apparently the victim. You can take that across the board to Bernie Sanders and the whole lot of people who think that they don't have enough because someone else has more and they are entitled to it bunch. These are the professional complainers, making life miserable for everyone until they get their way, like spoiled children who never grew up.

I've found in life that winners are the people who tell themselves "I can" and find a way. Losers are the people who tell themselves "I can't" and don't bother looking- but they still want what the can-do guy acquires. That is where the discord comes from- people who want to make others responsible for things they are not willing to do on their own.

. . . . But when EVERY thread you start is specifically designed to denigrate liberals, why is THAT not divisive???

Not really. Conservatives don't divide people according to their demographic group. You never see a Republican wanting to address the "Hispanic community" to discuss what government can do for them. We just address Hispanics like any other Americans - no better and no worse. For some reason, Democrats treat each group like they're a separate species.

Guess which kinds of quotes will be focused on by media, especially more conservative outlets? Blame and drama sells. I suggest you read the book, so that at least you can put what your third hand read , in first hand context.

Read news accounts of our politicians. Hillary went from demographic group to demographic group. Trump never went to talk specific demographic groups.

Republicans don't want to Balkanize America. Democrats believe we already are Balkanized and they're doing their best to keep it that way.

Then the conservatives that start disparaging threads on different groups aren't really Republicans? There are plenty of threads trashing full demos by Republicans. Afaic, they participate in this 'Balkanization'.

No it isn't. Because being a democrat, or Republican, or libertarian is a choice which can be changed. I don't have a choice of being a middle aged white male. So we are talking about differences based on choice and action. Not how you were born.

The OP talks about divisiveness not only in how one is born, but also some of the ideologies people subcribe to. Many Conservatives definitely participate in denigrating full groups of people based on birth and ideologies.

Certain ideologies are illegitimate and invalid to begin with.

Really? When Trump announced his candidacy he said Mexicans were rapists and drug smugglers.

    Trump isn't a Republican.

    Pence is a Republican.

Sorry. Trump will have an (R) next to his name every time a history professor brings up the presidents that have been impeached.

Hint: Though it may be apropos, the R stands for Republican... not Russian. I know Trump gets confused sometimes.

Progressives don't want a conversation. They frame something inconsequential as a major issue then excoriate anyone that makes a small breach of whatever arbitrary limits they put on speech.

Another projection. It is the far right and alt right that is attacking our majority culture.

Our value disagreement is a moot point; isn't it a tad hypocritical for a poster who constantly attacks liberals to accuse liberals of attacking conservatives???
