Trump has the Military acuity of a mentally-challenged 6-year-old who just found a game of Risk in the closet.

Yeah and its like I said. As to how that took place.

The S-75 and S-125 have been faced multiple times by modern air arms since 1990 and have consistently been defeated by current tactics and electronic warfare techniques and systems. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yugoslavia all possessed these systems and they were all defeated. The main victory claimed by these systems was the downing of an F-117A by a Yugoslavian S-125 battery in 1999, but this was due more to excellent intelligence support (they knew the F-117's route and whatever idiot planner was responsible used the same flight path over and over), outstanding site discipline (the site did not often radiate to give its position away), and the addition of an optical tracking system than the actual effectiveness of the system. In a conceivable conflict the DPRK would be facing American and ROK aircraft, and the USAF has exploited the S-75 and S-125 for decades......snip~

Btw T&J were you a designer for the US or UK? Contracts with both?

What do you think of that IHS Jane assessment?

As soon as the Stealth bombers bomb or fighter attacks they will become visible on any radar system making them vulnerable to Surface to air missiles. Only some of these radar sites will currently be known and they will also have mobile radar systems. It will not be possible to destroy them all in one run. North Korea is reported to have a huge arsenal of surface to air defense systems. That is one of the complaints made against NK is that all their money is spent on the military and very little spent on civilians. Neither Iraq, Afghanistan or Yugoslavia had a workable defense system. US planes will be shot down so the question is how many will be acceptable

I was a designer for UK based and Europe based military contracts.

Yeah STRATFOR said the same thing with not being able to do it with one run. But then they did talk about how it work with multiple waves of planes, helicopters, drones, cruise missiles, and artillery. That's just the US. Not including S Korea or Japan forces.

They also talked about N Koreas tech not being state of the art. Their trouble with Coastal radar, and trouble with launchers. Their S 200's hardened but not good enough from being taken out. Why their air force wont even be effective and why they won't be able to control their own air space.

Yeah and US artillery units will be hit. Which doesn't count Lil Kim firing on Seoul and Japan. Obviously there will be casualties. As this is no cake walk and wont be like what Shwartzkopf did.

There are currently forty six active S-75 sites inside of the DPRK, constituting the bulk of the strategic SAM force. According to SIPRI, a total of 45 S-75 Dvina systems were delivered to the DPRK from the USSR. 15 batteries were supplied between 1962 and 1964, with the remaining 30 batteries being supplied between 1966 and 1971. A total of 1950 missiles were reportedly supplied to arm the batteries. S-75 batteries are deployed to provide barrier air defense of the DPRK's coastlines and the DMZ, as well as coverage of the bulk of the DPRK's interior.

There are currently ten active S-125 sites inside of the DPRK. Seven batteries are positioned to defend the capital of Pyongyang, with the other three situated to defend the nuclear research center at Yongbyon. The DPRK operates the S-125M Neva-M variant, with SIPRI reporting that eight batteries were supplied between 1985 and 1986.

Seven of the deployed S-125 batteries, six around Pyongyang and one near Yongbyon, are situated at sophisticated hardened facilities. These hardened sites contain three launch revetments for 5P73 4-rail launchers and a radar position for the RSN-125 (LOW BLOW) engagement radar. The launchers can be retracted into bunkers when not in use. Similarly, the engagement radar can be lowered into a bunker and protected by a retractable cover, which splits in half and slides open when the radar is exposed.

There are currently two active S-200 sites inside of the DPRK. These sites are placed near the east and west coasts in the southern portion of the nation, allowing them to range far offshore and deep into the ROK. The S-200 represents the longest-range strategic SAM system in the DPRK's arsenal. Four S-200 batteries were supplied to the DPRK between 1987 and 1988, and two batteries are likely co-located at each location.

There are currently twenty nine identified inactive strategic SAM sites located in the DPRK. There are twenty seven S-75 sites and two S-125 sites. The bulk of these sites are located in the vicinity of Pyongyang. As such, they may represent facilities available for bolstering capital area air defenses during a time of conflict. They may also be employed as relocation facilities, complicating targeting of active batteries. Some inactive locations, notably those near the northwest border with China and near Kuum-ni on the northeastern coast, are situated in coverage gaps in the SAM network, suggesting that they may have been labeled as inactive when last imaged due to their assets being relocated for training or maintenance purposes......snip~

I have heard similar comments from experts. The THAAD system in particular is based on a poor design.

The "Reality" is that our "stealth planes" are not that stealthy.

Actually the reality is, they are stealthy enough, and making a big deal about a stealth plane being shot down.....just doesn't compare with the capabilities of the plane and its winning record. Those are the systems that N Korea uses. The very same ones we know how to exploit and defeat.

Iraq was supposed to have a great military too and we seemed to bomb at will with stealth technology.

Well.....just because the US has had a stealth plane shot down. Doesn't mean that the US isn't going to use Stealth Fighters and Bombers. Drones and missiles.

Saddam at least could say his Army was tested. What's Lil Kims excuse?

Winning record ? This is silliness. We have not faced an adversary with significant capability in many decades.

We have no idea how our air force would far against modern military capabilities ... that is the problem.

Further ... we do no have much of a "Modern" military. Most of our air force is 1970/80's era and we can not get the next generation F-35's off the ground.

We have been exploiting those systems whether involved in a conflict or not.

Then we should match up well with all of Lil Kims outdated and old soviet systems, from the 70's and 80s, with his 5 fully functional fighters and his old beat up mid range bombers. Plus all that old ass artillery that wont be able to participate in his attempted destruction of Seoul.

We will crush anything Kim has to offer. That does not change the fact that there may be a possibility that Kim would be able to knock down a plane or two.

This does not change the fact that most folks are living in some "necessary illusion" that our ability to project power is not what it once was relative to our adversaries. This has less to do with out capabilities and a whole lot more to do with the fact that the technology of our adversaries has increased - dramatically.

This does not mean they are stronger than us. What it does mean is that the cost of projecting power has increased to the point where if we continue in this current "necessary illusion"/hollywood fantasy we will sacrifice our long term economic security.

For the cost of a 13 Billion dollar aircraft carrier (not including it's entourage an cost of operation) one can build a whole lot of anti ship missiles costing 1 million each. There is a reason why Russia only has one operational aircraft carrier. These slow moving floating cities of metal are not the way of the future.

The reason we are continuing on the path we are is not to ensure our national/economic security. What secures our homeland is nukes and this has been the case for many decades. The reason we are on this path is to line the pockets of the international financiers that run own the banks, military industrial complex/defense contractors, Energy oligopolies, MSM and so on.

Things got really dire after the fall of the wall and the "MAD Doctrine" "Mutually Assured Destruction". This mindset was really bad for business and if you are interested this is where you start.

It became necessary to create a whole bunch of fake enemies to keep the fear factor high to keep the money flowing. This "necessary illusion" however is killing our long term economic security.

I don't think anyone in tune with the issue is thinking the US wont lose any planes, artillery, or people going into this conflict. I don't know any that think going into a war that we can play like were MC Hammer and You Can't Touch This.

You act like we haven't increased our capabilities with the old platforms. When in truth we have updated some things.

Yes one reason Russia has only one carrier. Its called money. To build more takes away from anything else Russia has going.

Actually floating cities on water leads to floating cities in air, that can go in water, space and to boldly go where no man has gone before.

You are correct in your assumption that the number of aircraft carrier groups we currently have is a waste of money :)

You are also correct that the Russians realized that they could not match the US plane for plane, ship for ship... which is why they focused their attention on missile and other niche technologies.

What you missed was the main purpose of our military is to put money in the pockets of international financiers.

Nah.....I had no such assumption. Actually we need 2 more.

They can't even compete with us there either. Not when we gear up the War Machine and productions.

No I didn't miss it, and you forgot about our own financiers. Who do play where the big boys play.

    American Players.

Anyhow the US is saying we are practicing evacuation drills in S Korea. It appears the S Koreans are also practicing. All this coming week with the ongoing exercises. While the US moves the 2nd CSG into the area.

The USS Michigan showed up and now I am wondering just how many subs we have involved outside the CSG's.

One of the keys to understanding the Establishment is understanding that the international financiers that make up that establishment consist of both American and other international players. In relation to the players that have US citizenship - they keep much of their money outside of the US.

I think there is a low probability that we will see an attack on N.K. I could be wrong but, either way, I do not think we can read too much into these drills.

If there is an attack coming ... S.Korea better be practicing evacuation drills but this is rather silly. How do you evacuate 51 million people in a short period of time. What are they practicing "Duck and Cover" ?

Its a lot of show and tell that's for certain. But now Tillerson is getting impatient with China. Its been 6 months, and if anything Lil Kim and N Korea has gotten real flamboyant with the rhetoric. While not looking to diffuse any tensions.

More than likely S Korea knows some targets that Lil Kim will be looking to hit. So getting as many as they can out of an area will reduce the loss of life. Anything can help.
