I bought my cross Jerusalem and haven't taken it off in 60 years.

After the Iranian Revolution in 1979 and the siege of the Grand mosque Saudi Arabia became stricter and American women (western women) didn't have to wear an abaya, but some did and that became the norm for many years. When I returned to KSA the king asked the American women NOT to wear abaya.. The key is to dress modestly.

The Saudis.. even heterosexual couples are not demonstrative in public so naturally homosexuals aren't either. Do you ever think?

The Saudis are friendly, helpful and hospitable. In most places in the world, the natives will overlook the small cultural misstep, if you treat them with friendly respect.

You mean the Iraqi Shia or the Iranian Shia or the Shia related al Houthis?

Or are you talking about the Hezbollah or the Syrian Shia?

US forces killed a lot of Sunnis.. Consider the US attack on a peaceful Sunni city in April.. I'll remember the name in a minute.. After and airstrike the troops set up HQ in a school. When the parents approached to asked them to vacate they opened fire.

What a silly opinion. I thought you were intelligently critical of US foreign policy :(

I have yet to understand why anyone trusts WikiLeaks for anything, but particularly for partisan stuff where both sides are known to lie supporting their agendas. It's info that is flat out criminally stolen and it says so itself from the git-go, but people are like " well this thief here says he overheard such and such and he's a THIEF, so you know it's got to be true"

Does anyone confirm WikiLeaks in one way or another or what?

What part of the Islamic 'holy book', called the Quran, describes "Moderate Islam"...? I've read a good bit of what is in the Quran, and I have not found a separate, secret portion that even mentions anything approaching "moderate" Islam....

    what is wrong with you?

why are you defending discriminatory and bigoted laws?

if your commitment to tolerance & diversity ends at the Saudi border, you don't give a damn about tolerance and diversity unless it benefits Muslims.

Unless you are Gay, Shia, Israeli, or want to hold hands with your loved one in public or want democracy.

your support for a totalitarian regime sickens me.

Unlike some other folks, I believe all societies should be tolerant and accept diversity.

I believe all societies should respect womens' rights, Gay rights, and the rights of religious minorities.

    I am not a hypocrite.

Well, I'm sure you know why Israelis aren't welcome, but people hold hands all the time.. .. couples and men.

Shura council and Majlis are a somewhat different form or democracy.. Our way isn't the only way.. just like the Israeli way is theirs.

meanwhile if a Western country banned the building of mosques or the public expression of Muslim faith, you'd scream and yell.

Israel has millions of Muslim citizens.

Does Saudi Arabia allow Jews to be citizens?

I agree with you there, nobody should impose their standards and beliefs on others, nor should they offend the sensibilities of others. If a society has certain standards, then they respect those standards and not affront them with the idea that their own are superior.

Of course there should be laws pertaining to human rights, which the 10 Commandments covers very nicely.

I want to apologize Margot since you were right, and I was wrong. My sources were probably getting their information about Harirri being a prisoner in Saudi Arabia from Middle Eastern sources. According to Sputnik he is in Dubai, and is meeting with diplomats from other nations.

I like to admit when I am wrong.

if folks are going to DEMAND that The West respect Muslim rights and sensibilities, then they should expect the same standards be imposed on Muslim nations.

People can demand whatever they want within their own country, but they can't go invading countries and trying to impose their own standards on them... something the West has done throughout it's history. Arrogance pure arrogance, and since the West has managed to self destruct so many times, and are ready to do so again, I should think they would be the last ones on earth wanting to impose their own standards on others.

Anyway I believe in total freedom for everyone. No central government to impose anything on anyone, and all townships and counties should make their own laws. If the people in one town want to run around naked, and in the other town they want to wear burkas, then that's their right. But the naked ones shouldn't tell the burka ones what to do, and visa versa.

Hmmmmm. I heard he was in Abu Dhabi a few days ago. I don't really think there is much difference where he is if it is a Saudi Controlled area. The first talk of anyone seeing him seemed to come from Macron who gave a somewhat nebulous comment about 'believing' he was free. The French Ambassador had apparently seen him. However since then France has made further comments which seem to indicate that they do not believe he is free although they appear in this for some reason to be trying to be diplomatic.

Lebanon now genuinely believes he has been held against his will and read out a Saudi written statement which wrote in a linguistic manner foreign to Hariri. It sounds like KSA was trying to get influence in Lebanon through him and did not achieve this. Hariri was trying to get money from Saudi Arabia which the Lebanese desperately need for looking after the mass of refugees they have. He had elected two Hezbolla to his Government. Saudi Arabia summoned him. On that first meeting when he was summoned to KSA he came home and said all was well, not only was Saudi Arabia fine with Hezbollah in Government but the Saud's were considering helping financially. They had apparently even suggested they would give money to the Lebanese Army. Now reading this behind the lines it is looking like rather than this coming freely from the Saud's, it was what Hariri managed to get them to agree to, so clearly he felt he had done well and Lebanon were well happy and feeling calm and that all was OK. That meeting was shortly before he was again summoned as an emergency back to Saudi Arabia - this time so that a pre recorded reading out of a statement could be made by him in Saudi Arabia.

Anyone interested a quick translation of Nasrallah's speech yesterday

Could be, i'll agree with you if it will turn out that they really did kidnap Hariri, I think it's never been done before, to kidnap a PM and making him say what you want, it will be crazy. but they do chop limbs over there so who knows.

Rania Masri is a terrible source... facts are secondary to her bias.
