Remembering Pearl Harbor, 76 Years Later DECEMBER 7, 2017, Today marks 76 years since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Several American ships were destroyed on that day “which will live in infamy” on December 7, 1941. The USS Arizona still remains sunken along with the remains of some of its crew members. According to the US census, 2,403 Americans were killed in the attack. 1,178 more were wounded. Both my parents, plus a swarm of uncles, served in WWII. One uncle who served on Iwo Jima has PTSD to this day. No one of my family got a deferment for bone spurs in their feet.

I'm very proud for your family and I have the highest regard for my father and cousins that proudly served in the service of our country. Amongst the millions that have served I also did my part in the late 50's and 60's. It's sad that some of those that served didn't impart their patriotism and commitment to service to their children as we see today.
