Roy Moore: America was great in era of slavery, is now ‘focus of evil in the world’

This is the modern GOP. A party that is deaf to its own racism, homophobia, and deap-seated hate of America.

Roy Moore, admitted pedophile, appears to praise Putin while condemning America as the "focus of evil in the world." Doesn't exactly fit in with the right-wing's empty "America First" paradigm. Then again, there are a lot of things about the GOP that don't quit fit with their message these days: Fiscal responsibility, pro middle-class, morals, ethics etc.

These are the people who now constitute the Republican Party and hold power in 3 branches of the government.

 

Some people really do live in a bubble buried in the past. Moore's statements show no ability to think critically and blind self-righteousness.

Your post demonstrates the kind of tunnel vision and sloppy reading comprehension which is becoming a hallmark of the left. Moore merely admitted that he shared an opinion with Putin on one particular stance (gay marriage.) The rest of it is entirely your spin. Likewise the comment about the slavery era. He was was not condoning slavery, he was commenting on the strength of the family and values at that time.

Saudi Arabia is a conservative dream state: the rich have absolute power, religious authorities are given the power to enforce law against sins, the poor and minorities are completely disenfranchised, women are little better than pets and any attempts to not be submissive gets them beaten down.

You missed the point. I'm not commenting on my opinion of family values at the time. I was pointing out that it is possible to like one aspect of an era without supporting all aspects of an era. For example, if Moore feels family values were strong during that era it does not necessarily mean he supported slavery. Just like I might say I love fashion from that era, without being a supporter of slavery.

Likewise it is possible to agree with someone on one issue without agreeing with that person on all issues. Again, the example above was gay marriage. Moore may agree with Putin about gay marriage, but you can't extrapolate from that that Moore is a Putin admirer or shares all of Putin's beliefs. All we really know is that Moore and Putin are both opposed to gay marriage.

That so-called article was just stretch and a spin; pandering to the partisans who will eat it up and never contemplate it critically. And it's the same kind of stretch and spin which is becoming a hallmark of the left, and it really does nothing to contribute to any worthwhile conversations.

And you are missing that point that objectively “family values” during that time period were garbage. Vast moral attrocities were committed during that time part and parcel to “family values”.
