Anyone who thinks that shithole countries are shithole countries because their populations are of, or not of, a particular race is a racist. The things that make shithole countries into shithole countries have absolutely nothing to do with genetics. Shithole countries are shithole countries because they have crappy cultures and their people have crappy characters. Neither culture or character is genetic.

While the reasons for countries being shitholes maybe under wide dispute, that they are shitholes is not so much.

Well, a shithole may be not as bad as someone could think. It has it's own merits.

In the last decade, US taxpayers have sent 5.1 BILLION dollars to Haiti. And that's just OUR contribution, there are many other sources of aid coming in there.

The whole place should be a luxury resort with the citizens driving around in golf carts that look like rolls royces.

But... It's still the exact same shithole it was 10 years ago. Why do you suppose that is?

What does where one is born have to do with one's ability to succeed in or contribute to this this country?
If President Trump wants to base future immigration on the individual merit of the applicant as he has stated isn't his statement hypocritical?
Did your relatives who immigrated in the last century come from what were then considered a "shithole country" like Ireland, Italy, Japan, China or Eastern Europe? Did they assimilate? Did they succeed?
Did Catholics or Jews who immigrated to a Protestant country assimilate and succeed?
The logic that many are using now was used against all these people.
History does not support the view that people who are different or disadvantaged must be kept out. That has always been one of the things that has made us exceptional.

As a nation, they have a poor culture. As individuals, too many have poor character. Neither is genetic.

You could withdraw all foreign aid from the African shitholes, and the average citizen there wouldn't even notice. That indicates a huge problem with the administration there. The outrage is misplaced.

Liberals will drop bombs on these shitholes an no one bats an eye. Let a republican call one of them a shithole, and every loses their minds.

When I used to hire individuals to work in a large corporation I would always hire an ex-military over someone who hadn't worked in the past year. An ex-military is a disciplined individual while someone who hasn't worked in the past year is a slacker. I was picking and choosing to help the company. So why not pick and choose who we let immigrate into our country? Trump brought up a good point and asked a good question. He just wants to make America great again.

Isn't that the same as saying people from Ohio, or Alabama, or whatever shithole state you want to use, have a poor culture and thus any less American?

Racists assume that a level playing field will favor one race over another. Racists assume that inferior races need affirmative action to compensate for their inferiority.

I track with you right up to "and thus any less American". That's a leap too far for me. I can't follow you there.

In my opinion, life is too short to spend pointing out the less than interesting points. But hey, whatever it takes to fill the void.

The point you're trying to make is a cowardly one. It comes from a position of not having the courage to say the truth.

Let me put it in more simple terms; where someone is born or lives has little bearing on the quality of their character, work ethic, or intelligence.

Schools are level playing fields yet we know from the grades that some races score higher grades.
Another good reason to get rid of AA.

Long before the biggest natural disaster in Haiti's history shook Port-au-Prince on the afternoon of Jan. 12, the Caribbean nation of 10 million struggled to feed and shelter its expanding population. More than a million families relied daily on international food aid, and the capital sprawled with shantytowns build by unemployed farmhands who had migrated to the city in search of work. Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, but its culture and history are undeniably rich. Under French rule in the 1700s, Haiti was the wealthiest colony in the New World and represented more than a quarter of France's economy. After a Haitian slave revolt defeated the French army in 1801, the newly independent nation became the first country in the New World to abolish slavery. But Haiti's fortunes ebbed when the 20th century brought three decades of American occupation, multiple corrupt regimes, natural disasters, environmental devastation, and the scourge of HIV.

what was the size of government when the immigrants you described came to the U.S.? how do we return to this size of government so that future immigrants will too be forced to accept personal responsibility?

Its a corrupt nation and the people haven't stood up to really change it. If EVERYONE there were the hardest working people, wouldn't it stand to reason the people would have turned the place around by now, being such amazingly hard workers and all. Nations are run by people. But saying its directly related to race is NOT being said or implied, except by Liberals inserting racism in what people supposedly say.
