But the argument people try to make when they put age restriction on things is you are not mature enough to use it. Drinking age, driving age, gambling age, restricted movie age etc... It is hard to argue you are not mature enough to use and own a gun when we force them to do it in the military.

It does make sense to prioritize schools.

We pay $7.25 trillion a year...approaching half of our real GDP... in federal, state and local taxes, and for whatever reason can't come to an agreement about having armed security details protect our children while they attend government schools...

all while we don't blink an eye when banks charge us fees to cover the costs of armed guards, bullet proof glass, uncrackable safes, ect., to protect our money.

our money is protected better than our children.

    Think about that.

Metal detectors should be mandatory at all times in the school (not just during the day, but at all school events).

2 armed security guards should be on site at all times. Surely the money for this can be found somewhere.

And I could get on board with not being able to purchase a gun until age 21. Of course, most of these idiots just steal them from their parents or somewhere else anyway.

Liberals in this country need to look in the ****ing mirror too. Enough with glorifying gang bangers, lunatics, rioters, etc. Remember when Rolling Stone put the glamour shot of the Boston bomber on the cover? Are you ****ing kidding me?

And finally, maybe there should be a serious study into the medications that are prescribed to these people. They all seem to be on some type of psych med. If people with serious mental health issues can't be locked up, then they should be closely monitored, and receive counseling

Why do you assume I’m a conservative? Assuming things about people you don’t know is asinine and makes you look foolish.

We need a new AWB to incorporate these new designs. It won't stop everything but it's a start.

The USA is a violent society and guns just make it worse. There is no solution in the absence of banning of gun ownership.

There has been a plethora of zombie movies and series which portrays zombies getting shot in the head, decapitated and burned. Other action movies portray death and extreme violence. All of these movies desensitize people to violence.

To top it all, Trump, the Consoler in Chief, made the claim he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and suffer no retribution.

You need a license to drive.
No license to shoot a weapon.
You need to register your vehicle every year in some States.
No yearly registration of your firearm.
You need to take a test in order to drive a vehicle.
No test needed to know how to safely handle a firearm because 'Merica!

The last time I checked the right to own firearms was protected specifically in The Constitution and the right to own a vehicle was not.

So young adults should have no right of self protection and no right to hunt?

Removing the "device" should be part of the solution. But removing some members of congress should be another. You want to root out the mentally ill?

A year ago Sen. Grassley was the lead Senate sponsor of a bill to make it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns -- it was a standalone bill; that's all it did. It passed Congress a year ago today, and Trump signed it into law.

NOW, Sen. Chuck Grassley says Congress needs to concentrate on how people with "mental reasons for not being able to handle a gun" are able to get them.
    (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [GASP])

    Any questions?

Oh, well then, every nut, psycho, convict, and ex-convict should be allowed to buy a gun just like everyone else.

The military uses video games to train specialists to kill effectively in difficult situations. They're effective.

Have a more positive environment. The world is corrupted and not like it used to be with nice people being there for you.

Maybe if we had nice people and ways to reach out to those who are being treated wrong and not have social groups or expectations, we possibly can have better control of these mass shootings.

Gun control won’t help, neither will helping the mentally ill, what needs to be done is an out reach program and to do a better job at teaching kids that bullying, social groups are right. Because this wasn’t totally the shooters fault it was America’s, “I don’t give two hells” attitude towards people who are loners or shy, or to those who are just having a rough time and you see it.

    Ur missing the point.

Every time theres an awb, an 'assault weapon' is exempted. Most recently, in 2012, the Ruger Mini-14 'ranch rifle' (a semi-auto, high-cap mag capable, military round firing rifle) was left out of the bill (that Ruger *just happened* to be sponsoring). Ruger was going to corner the market on 'assault rifles' and your glorious gun control leaders were happy to help them do it. Instead of crazies going down to the pawn shop and getting ARs, they would be getting Mini-14s, which as far as the civilian models go, are functionally identical to the AR.

The crooks you're following into battle against the NRA dont care about saving lives. They just want to pass more laws and make any gun seller who will help them do it rich(er).

I think schools tolerate bad behavior by students and poorly behaving students who are violent should be expelled and sent to special schools. Also schools need to deal with mental health and we as a society need to deal with it. We also need a place to store guns so that teachers can use them for self-defense.

Was it not Trump himself who ended a ban on sales of guns to the mentally ill?

Old people on social security aren't committing mass murder.
