One, the charges were so bogus the prosecutor dropped them immediately. So the only thing he technically did wrong was Jay walking which he was clearly beaten for. He should never have been facing arrest as he had committed no addressable offense for the cop to threaten him with when they initially told him he was either going to get a ticket or be arrested. So you are wrong.

2. Because no one deserves to be arrested, or beaten for Jay walking. The idea some black guy deserved it becomes racist because that sort of idea only comes from his black skin. Are you really thinking a white guy should be arrested or having his ass kicked for Jay walking? Of course not, and if it was you then you certainly would not think it is fair.

This is racial and the defense of the cop and his actions are done by people who are excited when some black guy gets a beat down. Really it should disgust you to see a human being treated like that for doing nothing criminal at all. Jay walking is a violation, not a criminal offense. The fact that it is a black man makes it acceptable in some people's minds and that is racist.

 

All they have to do is respond with respect. Yes, officer I will not walk on the person's property but will stay on the sidewalk.

It's time for people to utilize their 2d Amendment rights.

 

Thank you for your comment (seriously I am not being sarcastic). Adultery is a religious word, but I am uncertain when they stop being enforced. Divorce is a religious concept as well and states enforced laws against getting divorced until at least the 70's. Isn't bigamy still illegal in the US.

 

We still have freedom of the press here as we should. Unfortunately the mainstream press here has been completely overrun by those pushing an agenda. Would rather have that than the government controlling our media.

 

While I don't think that would be the proper way to go about it I do think it is inevitable that if society fears the police will be bearing them up over Jay walking and small offenses fear will lead to people shooting at police to defend themselves. The more police frighten people the more people will stop working with them or submitting to them. You have to have some idea that the police are operating within a set of rules where they are doing a job and they do have your safety in mind.

I don't pay my taxes to have police officer thugs going around beating up black or poor people if you cannot admit to the racism.

 

If Chris Rock comes on this forum and argues his point, I'll address him. For now, it's you posting, and consequently you're the one getting the response.

 

Punishment? He wasn't being punished in any way, that was just standard operating procedure for arresting a working class man with dark skin.

Police eventually went too far in NC case and should pay the price for doing so but the situation would never have gotten out of control if the guy being arrested actually obeyed police in any reasonable manner. He had multiple chances and didn't. Ran away instead. If I do that, I expect the police to rough me up to take control of the situation. They don't know if I have a gun/knife or some other weapon.

Some recent studies have shown white police officers are tougher on white criminals and black police officers are tougher on black criminals. The race angle is often overplayed. Police officers most often react to how you obey them. If someone thinks a cop is in the wrong, they can always contest the arrest/ticket later.

And unfortunately, despite all of the so-called "talk" that some minority parents give their kids, there is still way too many African American males not following simple orders. Not following orders while drunk/high is one thing but its especially crazy to do while sober.

 

Yeah but forum right wingers keep telling us that we all need weapons to protect us from government tyranny. They keep posting garbage about that each and every day here on this forum. So let's see them say the same thing about protecting ourselves from tyrannical police criminals.

 

This is not an example of government tyranny. RW'ers mostly know not to argue and then run from police. That knowledge will eliminate 99.9% of the problem.
