And yet, these young people will be able to vote in just a couple of years, many even this year for the 2018, and most for 2020. Why do they not have a right to exercise their 1st amendment right today?

 

You aren't fighting to change the minds of the anti-gun side .... you are fighting for the middle-ground people who swing the vote.
If you are seen as mindless, heartless, gun fanatics - you will lose that middle-ground voter. You will lose the mom and dad who sends their kids to public schools. THIS is what you and NRA don't understand. THIS is why you and the NRA endanger my right to own guns for hunting.

Additionally, AFTER the Assault Weapons Ban expired in Sept 2004, homicides plummeted by 49% so clearly, assault weapons are not a significant factor in America's homicide rate but delightful targets for simple minded sound bites & hyperbolic theatrics.

Make no mistake, "Common sense gun control" has become code for an outright, nation wide gun ban(2) and is a cheap & easy way to avoid the cost & effort of taking real steps to reduce the nations homicide rate such as appropriate funding for our nation's dismal mental health system.

Rather than walking hand-in-hand with the Gun Ban lobbies in hyping today's vacuous cheerleading festival, MSM could do its part by refusing to make a celebrity out of every emotionally disturbed mass killer.

Of course they have that right, was just debunking the picture you were painting as being all victims and such themselves, not scrolling back for exact wording.

Anyway, of course they have their first Amendment right. As long as they realize that their 1st Amendment rights have 0 Bearing, or elevated importance with regards to another mans 2nd amendment rights, knock themselves out.

But don't fool yourself into believing these walk outs are all organic and happening without help.

Those few who did should be marked as an unexcused absence and whatever results from doing so such as receiving a zero on tests and not graduating from the grade level if missing too many days.

It should be noted that in many states truancy is illegal and even a criminal offense against the parents if a parent allows it. If so, they should be prosecuted and the MSM accordingly is praising students and parents who engage in criminal conduct regardless of motive.

What the Democrats and their Communist gun grabbing constituents don't realize is that there are a lot pro-gun teens who WILL be voting.

 

When kids organize nationally do you think that's because they think for themselves, or is it more likely they had a lot of help and funding to get this moving? And the 1st Amendment doesn't protect someone from being an idiotic puppet.

 

I bet most of the students protesting are going on to liberal art degrees.

It's because they are being properly educated in the real meaning of the articles and amendments of The Constitution and know a hell of a lot more than most right wing posters on Internet forums. In fact, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is one of the top rated schools in the country. Kudos to these super bright kids.

 

Kids::

1) Absolutely not. We do not take the rights of the law abiding because of the actions of an ******* or the bleating of children who are SCREAMING at the top of their lungs that those under 21 are too immature to exercise their rights. We agree. Now shut the **** up and get back in school. Also, an "assault weapons" ban wouldn't do **** that you want. "Assault weapons" are those semi auto detachable mag fed rifles which have some mostly cosmetic or ergonomic features like a vertical foregrip (but not an angled foregrip) and an adjustable stock. Or a bayonet lug or flash hider. See photograph below for what you would ban and what would still be available. If you can't even use the right language to get what you want (semi auto rifle ban), I'm damn sure not going to even entertain your suggestion.


2) See 1. Also this is at its core essentially unenforceable.

3) Courts can already do this. All that is required is that the families of these persons ACTUALLY file on them in accordance with the law to have them adjudicated mentally unfit. If you don't even know what the laws are, I'm not letting you write more.

In summary: Get the **** back in school and grow the **** up. Also: your parents should each be receiving a citation for your truancy as such is the law.

 

And what would you say if these kids who are properly educated in the real meaning of the second amendment organized a nationwide protest to protect it? I think that's when you'd call them brainwashed puppets.

 

Someone should organize these walk-outs / protests for a Saturday and see how many still support these "demands".
