I hope that east and the west can take the cue and finally stop their hostilities....who knows, maybe it's just a nice fantasy. The pope also wants to work with Palestine to restore the land to pre 67 era.

Maybe after causing countless bloodbaths throughout history, the Christian religion could actually bring world peace to the world. No doubt Muslims won't take this too kindly.

I'm glad the two religious leaders met and are dedicated to peace and call for the ending of all persecutions in the Middle East of Christians.

what I find funny is how I see people who demand separation of church and state, suddenly find themselves supporting injection of church into state when the church says something they support... but as soon as the church is done agreeing with them, they toss it aside as something trivial and pointless not to be considered by the state...

I guess this just highlights it again, those on the left who want the right to follow the church when it says we should bring an end to this... yet once the church begins to speak again about abortions, suddenly the left wants the church to remain silent and not tell us how to live because they have no place in our government affairs...

I just find the irony so enjoyable... a handshake and a slap across the face all in one movement... I wish people had more consistency in their morals, rather than this pick and choose when to apply them and not... I mean if religion is good enough to follow when it supports your choices, isn't it good enough to follow when it conflicts?

good old shake-n-slap... a politicians true action to us all...

Everything has its uses. Its not the states fault that so many people look up at the "church". What ever moves people and brings them closer to peace,

I found that the methods of the Catholic Church to impose abortion on the people of the US, without taking into account the culture that has spewed it, has done more damage to their cause than good by arousing feminists into backing liberal judges. In time these liberal judges turned a relatively devout population into one where it's not only abortion that has become commonplace, but even sexual deviance's. It also hardened people hearts, something which our government reflects with its indifference to the destruction of life and livelihood of so many millions in other parts of the world.

Almost all moral boundaries on human behavior have ceased to exist in Western societies, and the Islamic fundamentalists are trying to fill the gap ...but without the Holy Spirit's comfort, peace and love, which can only come through God's Grace. This is why hatred and revenge is so rampant in people's hearts.:oldman:

well I think thats an assumption that anyone without religion is an immoral awful person... I gave up religion the day I left home... yet I probably have higher morals and values than most people today who still "practice" their faith... I say practice because I am reminded constantly how many politicians invoke religion every election, and then are morally reprehensible in their daily lives after the election is over... I don't think we need religion to solve the moral problem of people, we need to go back to a society that holds people accountable, a society that see's something wrong and steps in to stop it, a society that shuns people for their poor choices...

america used to have that kind of society, sure it happened to be mostly based on religious morals, but some of those things are universal even among people who don't practice a religion... but we as a society got away from holding each other accountable, and from shunning those who dare buck whats accepted in society... its allowed people to act and do whatever they want and we're being taught society must accept people for who they are no matter what choices they make in life... that has been the true downfall of society, acceptance of everyone for any reason... granted I will concede its likely a movement coming from the non-religious, but I'm also reminded how often that comes from those manipulating and using religion as the farce for why we must accept and forgive others... I say hold the ground and hold them accountable!

That is bc they are cultural marxists. Their goal is to subvert the church. If the church complies with marrying gays and putting women in the pulpit, they will
allow it, and even support it.

I have a simpler solution - just have all government's reject ALL religions as nothing but social clubs...with no more legal, taxation or political power than any other social club (like the Boy Scouts or a chess club).
