    Thanks for the info.

Please let your work friend know we're pulling for his kid and the girl who got shot as well, and give that SRO a hearty handshake from me.

Any idea how he got his hands on that gun?

Mine too, but if they shot my revolver it would probably pop em in the face on the recoil lol...

We could just recycle previous threads on guns :p Everything will be the same.

This incident reflects why I doubt armed guards are enough. You can only get there so fast.

You'd rather wait 5-10 minutes for cops to get there?

What good is 15 minutes of fame if you're dead before you can wallow in it?

I rather would not have a high school student have a gun in the first place. Because no guard is going to get there fast enough to stop all the shooting.

The initial reports were that the officer heard multiple shots then entered the hallway in about a minute after the shooting and pursued the shooter. The officer then fired one bullet at the same time as the shooter fired one bullet. Two students hurt plus one dead.

Later report given to the press was that one bullet was fired at the girl and one further bullet was fired by the shooter at the time the shooter got shot and one bullet fired by the officer. When reporters questioned the police commissioner about the 14 year old boy, he would not confirm that he was shot by the shooter. He also stated that he could not say where the bullet that killed the shooter came from.

There are conflicting reports which will become clearer in the next few days

Probably a parent who didn't lock it up, but that's just a guess. Nothing has been released yet on that. His aunt posted to FB asking for prayers for their family before she knew he was the shooter. She lives out of state and was just hoping her nephew was ok. The Internet is pretty cruel to people. She got blasted by students who go to Great Mills as if she had anything to do with it. She lost a loved one, even if he's the evil one who attempted to kill others. It's humbling when it hits so close to home. My own kid was at another high school in the area, so I know well how they often run active shooter and other drills to deal with catastrophes if they should happen.

    Sure.

Would it be better if he had attacked her with a kitchen cleaver then?

Yeah there were conflicts between our local reports, the CNN and DC station outlets, and what we were hearing from our kids and their friends. My kid was in contact with a friend at Great Mills so she knew immediately when it happened. They at first thought up to 7 were shot, so it was chaotic to find out accurate details. I still don't think we know exactly but the sheriff's investigation should open up more info. Sounds like he used a Glock.

Don't be silly, sales on back packes and hand guns every fall.

Get your kid armed today, it's just not safe in school.

When you have to result to hyperbole you know you have no argument
No one has ever proposed arming school kids

Meaning if the shooters are the only ones that die. Am I going to have to explain everything to you?
    Seems so.
Yes. Children who find guns and play with them are the ones that kill themselves and others by accident. A child who knows how to handle and secure a weapon prevents it. That is why they teach it in boy scouts. Otherwise children do not understand the tool or respect it.
A free one, with the ability to defend itself from tyranical rule. Our problem is not guns, but shitty parenting. Our society has a systemic sickness. We believe that it stems mostly from liberal ideology. You think that guns are the cause, like the one ring of Sauron, it makes you evil. They do not. The thing most gun homicides have in common is a bad home.
