Boy the liberals got awfully quiet after today's HUGE increase. Why are only Trump supporters happy about this? Shouldn't everyone be happy when the market has a good day?!?!?

Just further proof that the left LOVES seeing bad things happen so long as Trump gets the blame, and HATE the idea of good things happening.

You seem a bit butt-hurt that the sky didn't fall.

    Tariffs work. Today's proof

I love how people who told me in December that cutting taxes would destroy the economy, turned around and told me imposing taxes on imported goods would destroy the economy by starting a trade war.

I have news for them: we have been in a trade war since we landed at Plymouth Rock.

March 8, "Tariffs are a bargaining chip."

They give him leverage. He extended a temporary exemption to Canada and Mexico, which gives him an edge in the NAFTA re-negotiations.

South Korea, meanwhile, agreed to limit exports of steel in exchange for a permanent exemption.

"The U.S. and South Korea reached an agreement on revising their six-year-old bilateral trade deal and the U.S. said it wouldn’t impose President Donald Trump’s tariffs on steel imports from its ally in Asia," Bloomberg News reported.

"The two countries reached agreement in principle on the trade deal known as Korus, South Korea’s trade ministry said in a statement on Monday. While Korea avoids the steel tariff, shipments of the metal to the U.S. will be limited to a quota of about 2.7 million tons a year, according to the statement."

The art of the deal is you have to have something the other guy wants. A steel limit is better than slapping a limit on car imports.

"Korea’s trade surplus with the U.S. was about $18 billion last year, down from $23 billion in 2016, according to the Korea International Trade Association. Cars accounted for more than 70 percent of the value of the surplus," the report said.

Kia and Hyundai make good cars, by the way.

"On cars, which is an area of particular interest for the Trump administration, the U.S. will maintain tariffs on Korea’s exports of pick-up trucks until 2041, from the previously agreed 2021. Korea will ease some of its safety and environmental regulations on imported US. cars, the statement shows," Bloomberg reported.

President Trump sure seems good at cutting deals.

It appears China has caved. Because of Trump's tariff, China has agreed to open their markets and not demand access to the technology of American companies doing business there. And the stock market took off.

Why didn't Obama play tough with China? Oh, because he was buffoon.

India just announced a $500 million investment in two US Steel operations and South Korea in exchange for no tariff on steel will double its import of US vehicles to 50,000.

All nations, who have bowed to the demands of China’s trade position, are now beginning to reassess the value of President Trump confronting this head-on. It is beginning to sink-in that all nations can benefit from correcting a trade imbalance within their own position. In essence, U.S. President Trump is moving the entire global trade dynamic.

They are. I mean, these people really are mad that we didn't have another bad day.

They hate Trump more than they like their own country's economy. Pathetic.

Zorro posted it not long ago. It's on page 24 of this thread. That you didn't read it is on you, not anybody else.

Of course me saying you're a lefty and biased doesn't mean anything. I wasnt implying that. It's your actions that prove it.

An independent would've done their research, you refuse to and ridicule all those with differing points of view from yours.

So, if you're going to continue being a hateful lefty, have a wonderful day.

Btw, it doesn't matter what's in the wsj link that was posted, you'll claim it's nonsense....we all know it and so do you.

    Like I thought...no link.

No link, no proof...not even a shred of factual evidence.

    LOL.

Let me know when you find said link (btw - you never will, for one almost certainly does not exist).

We are done here as I have wasted enough time on you and your Trump-fan dreams.

    Bu bye now.

LOL...oh yeah...he has them running scared.

So what has Trump's BRILLIANCE at negotiating trade deals done so far?

Well...let's take a looksie (plus, I am bored):

    https://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/Press-Release/current_press_release/exh1.pdf

Oh no...look at that? The trade deficit has SKYROCKETED under Trump.

Gee...I guess maybe he is not such a brilliant negotiator after all.

    :roflol::roflol:

Well...never mind. How about we look at some more statistics...shall we?

We all know that spending is the heart of the economy. How is that going:

    https://tradingeconomics.com/united-states/retail-sales

Ouch!?! Not so good...in fact, downright lousy.
The last three months have seen a decline in retail sales. If that keeps up, get ready to re-learn to spell 'recession'.

    What else?

The dollar index? When Trump took office, it was well over 100. Now it's below 90.

    https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DX-Y.NYB?p=DX-Y.NYB

    Not so good.

What about the GDPNow you were touting like CRAZY earlier this 1/4. Let's look at it now, shall we?

    https://www.frbatlanta.org/cqer/research/gdpnow.aspx

Ouch again. Oh look...and the 1/4 is almost over.

Well, surely the DOW is booming lately...that will make up for everything.

    https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/?symbol=.DJI

    Oopsy...it's down YTD.

    So...let's summarize...

Equities are stagnating, the trade deficit is tanking, the dollar as well, retail sales are going backwards and the GDP growth sucks.

So how is that 'position of strength and resolve' going pal?

    Ooooohhhh...not so good.

But hey, there is always the Russia probe to cheer you up....well, er....maybe we'll skip that as well.

But hey, you can always come on here and continue to post those dreams of yours about Trump. Sure, you cannot back up what you say with facts...but...er...at least you can spell REALLY well.

    Have a Trumptastic day, buddy.

And the market was UP 670 points yesterday! But if it lost nearly half its 'value' going forward it wouldn't surprise me....

I'll be the first to point out that the stock market is STOOPIDLY overvalued, and that it has been completely manipulated by the Federal Reserve combine since August 2007, when it began crushing interest rates and distorting the value of our currency. In an atmosphere of such unreasoning emotionalism as we have seen since then, the stock market performance doesn't really mean a damn thing -- but horribly unfair and unequal trade relations between nations do! That is what Trump is trying to change.
