The White House was more transparent when Obama left office than it was when he arrived. That is progress towards greater transparency.

You are missing the point. Obama was transparent. The WH was more transparent at the end of his 8 years than it was when he arrived. He moved the presidency towards greater transparency.

Trump is reversing that, and you and others seem to think that is a good thing. It isn't, regardless of what Trump said or didn't say about transparency.
