So, when has syria in recent history attacked israel? When has Iran attacked israel, in recent history? That was not caused by israel first attacking? Give me the links to back up your assertion, please. For facts actually have relevance here. If I get nothing from you, well, I can figure it out. Not really that difficult to do.

Facts have a way of separating the wheat from the chaff. And you may be shoveling the chaff here, but I expect you do have facts to back up your contention, or you would have never said it. I cannot seem to find those facts which support your contention. Which is why I ask for them.

    Well played :p

No, I'm not building any case. Yes, Israel has been fired on repeatedly. That is a fact. The Syrian and Iranian governments are declared enemies of Israel. Another fact. Iran has a growing presence in Syria. Fact.

Is that building a case for something? It's stating facts. I'm sorry that you don't like them. I'm not advocating for any action to be taken against Syria or Iran by stating these facts. It simply occurred to me that what we are seeing now explains why the US sent a lot more force over to the Mediterranean over that alleged gas attack. We did not have to do respond to that, and we certainly did not have to increase our naval presence beyond sending what was necessary to carry out that very limited missile strike.

I don't want to see people harm each other. I really don't. I don't like that Israel, Syria, Iran and others are more or less at war like this. People suffer and die for stupid reasons. Russia and the US are also involved in ways that only encourage and assist certain sides in the conflict, when we should be preventing violence instead. At least the US seems to be preventing violence against Israel, so that is good. But if we go on to attack Iran or Syria and escalate the conflicts taking place, then that is another matter entirely.

Yes though I said not a proxy. Iran for obvious reasons is anti colonial. It was I think one of the first to support the end of apartheid in South Africa and supports justice for the Palestinians.

Hamas changed its charter last year.
Even when Alistair Crooke was working with Hamas in the early 2000's he discovered that what this was all about was that Israel had never recognised a Palestinian State. Hamas has said it would accept two states along 67 lines if their people voted for it and would serve in a Government doing that and honouring it, if the people voted for it. A little bit of playing with words but basically that is saying yes, though now two States have become impossible because of Israel's settlements, something else would need to be created. Gaza is not surviving. Hamas was willing to give up pretty much everything for Gaza prior to the 2014 war. Since Israel's attack in 2012 if not before it has been Israel not Hamas who has broken cease fires. (I know some people will scream they broke this or that during the war which would need ages of time to debate but basically Israel attacks Hamas far more than the other way round and does not stick to other things it agrees to in cease fires - for example fishing rights, trade rights)

You may be interest in this by Henry Siegman former Exec Director of the American Jewish Congress. All of his articles are worth reading. About two thirds down the transcript of this interview he speaks about his views on Hamas - which are positive.
    https://www.democracynow.org/2014/7/30/henry_siegman_leading_voice_of_us

However again it is also true that when the EU put in a conflict resolution worker to work with Hamas, he believed he could get Hamas to come to, from Hamas's actions, a non violent two state solution. His work with them was stopped when Tony Blair managed to convince the EU to bring this worker out, declare Hamas a terrorist group, give Israel the freedom to use her army against the Palestinians and build jails for political activists around 2005.

I don't think they took their charter as seriously as everyone else but they did change it last year. Again check Siegman to get an idea about their position.

Yes how you describe it is similar to how others have in the past. Israel does not want and after the death of Rabin has not wanted a two state solution. That does not mean that some of them do not want it but it does mean that their Parliamentarians do not. Before the UK had a backbenchers debate on recognising Palestine, they were all given an opportunity to have a look at a video by ex heads of Shin Bet. They said no Israel Prime Minister had ever been interested in a two state solution and said someone is going to have to get them to see it must be so. We also got a signed document from many of the elite in Israel saying similar. Rabin had to be talked into supporting the 2 state solution. I suspect he was by members of Shin Bet. They have seen it that if there is not a Palestinian State then eventually there will not be a Jewish State.

    Yes

Hamas's charter was apparently created as a response to the Likud one of the time. Where they wanted all the land from the sea to the river, Hamas wanted all the land from the river to the sea. The Likud Party has never changed what it wants and they are the ones getting it with the help of the US.

I doubt they would have done much better regardless of who they put in. The West bank has only had more and more settlements. At the moment I think Israel is wanting to take 62% of it. Hamas was not in charge when Israel moved out of Gaza. They were voted in because people believed they had been conned with the 2 State solution and it would not be. They were correct.

It is certainly more difficult building settlements if people are actively resisting them. The PA has done Israel's job of subduing the Palestinians while Israel takes their land and resources - in particular water.

I don't think they wanted to be second-class citizens on their own land neither.

When a conquering nation forcibly take a land, it doesn't ask the local residents permission.

But it isn't every conquering nation that sees only value in the land, and none in its inhabitants. If there was no ethnoreligious segregation, then it wouldn't be zionism.

You know what they say... might makes right. Might of the world is stronger than tiny Israel. Hence it will never be Israel since the world says so.
    You claim, you source.
Joke is on you talking crap on other countries, when you support the most condemned nation on the planet.

Yoh f[IMG][IMG]! - You just [IMG]
    I
t was Israel that SIGNED that 'anti-Israel' UN Charter. and agreed to its precepts [IMG] - [IMG]
................................................................................................................... I'm not sure if I'm hysterical but you are certainly making me laugh

And why pray tell, is it in any way 'anti-Israel' to agree by signed Legal International Charter
...................... that, It is wrong, Illegal and EVIL to profit by annexing Territory by way of War ? .........

Not that it may be seen as Unethical, let alone to Hypocritical & Immoral to sign a document and
then to simply Ignore it when it becomes convenient to do so. So Israel signs 'anti-Israel' documents :chew:

Thank You [IMG] for so explicitly exposing the contradictory & diseased nature of such Hypocrisies
we now see them very clearly - SO how's that Cognitive Dissonance quotient of yours doing ?:roflol:

This is probably true - Due to the fact that Israel is backed up by the American tax payer
Iran knows this - But when they are attacked they will defend themselves & Israel will NOT
    ......................................................................................................... escape unscathed
