Is discriminating against people for their sexual orientation somehow less acceptable than discriminating against them for their political affiliation?

Nope. But more people discriminate and and have done hateful evil things to gays than those who have a political viewpoint.
And the discrimination wasn't going to go away, so the constitution spoke up and said, ALL PEOPLE are Created EQUAL and should be treated as such.
Opinions are not protected by the constitution, AFAIK. And being on a political side, is an opinion.

Someone quoted the Bible!!!! It's a book, what's wrong with quoting from a book you have read? I guess the discriminating Red Hen should put up a sign that reads, "No Republicans or Ministers". Hating Trump has warped so many minds. I'll be surprised if the Red Hen is still open six months from now.

If they behaved, if they broke no laws, I would serve them.

    A huge leap you've taken.
    Why?
I bet you jumped for joy on the recent USSC baker ruling. Hypocrisy much?

But if you haven't notice over the last 2 decades, politics is segregated. But politics is an opinion, a privilege, not a human trait, and not protected by the constitution.

The great change in the political landscape. No one could have predicted a return to that kind of fundamentalism.

That we might try to behave like adults about politics? Perhaps return to the adulthood of late last century, when we understood that the other guy will always be the devil (and our guy the saint), but didn't let that fact interfere with our social lives?

There's no 'heading back', that has always been law. Any privately owned business can refuse service to anyone, for any reason, at any time. That's the law. It's tied in to private property (and a privately owned business is private property).

You're missing the point. Business and trade depend upon customers. If you lose customers, you lose business. The market will generally expel those who refuse to take money from every other potential customer. OTOH, sometimes staff are actually more problematic to the paying public, than is a refusal to serve. Some places don't practice anywhere near enough discernment in hiring, and inadvertently alienate potential customers.

So is being overtly gay. You can choose not to do that, just as you can choose not to be a Republican.

Trump's family are all just like him... and others, like Sarah seem to put their paycheck before any principles or integrity.

My one and only point is that I would refuse to be bullied. And that is all this is, bullying.

So you support discrimination based on any other reason besides race and sex.

Perhaps, but this is what America looks like now with someone like trump setting the tone.
Don't whine about it and then cheer when your great orange hope spouts his demagoguery and displays the social manners of a pig.

Trump's support has dropped from 45 to 41 in the polls.

Trump is a radical hate mongering radical.

Civility is gone.. Trumpsters see Trump's behavior and think they can be just as obnoxious with impunity.

It's not just preferred, it's an objective. Adhere, or suffer the consequences. It's demonstrably as simple as that.

Toe the line, or be harassed, intimidated, and destroyed.

How many more examples of this objective are required?

    Civility is gone. I agree.

Generally, I discount any opinion when it puts a name on a group and then says that they are all uniform in their beliefs and actions.

This will hurt the democrats. Many people will look at this and the rhetoric of Maxine Waters and be repulsed and it will galvanize the republicans. In short, this is stupid.

So. Your solution is to penalize anyone associated with Trump?
