Yeah I guess Trump "cares" about the military... oh wait, he called my dear friend and senator John McCain a war hero because he was captured.... TRUMP CAN BURN IN HELL WITH HITLER FOR ALL I CARE!

It's a McCain bill, and Cadet Bonespurs Trump never once mentioned him.

I'm glad for the raise, and I'm...well, lukewarm towards where we are geopolitically. Because of things out of control:

    https://www.apnews.com/6e66dd2f0a0b...anctions-against-Russia-hit-an-economic-nerve

To me, it's a great thing we're rearming, because we have to be militarily prepared, but also we must be psychologically prepared. The skirmish in Syria was a sign of things to come. And we've never fought such a major war since WW2.

The #1 thing in war is unity behind the CIC and the country, but the Congressional midgets too shortsighted to see that have undermined the POTUS'S domestic standing. Which is ironic at a time of a show of force against Russia.

I believe in the strength of our military and our soldiers, but I fear that just like with the Bush Administration, anti-US support here at home will bombard our forces negatively.

Yea, now some of our Troops can get off of food stamps.

When Germany went into the Soviet Union, the Russian soldiers threw down their weapons.
Stalin told his army to stop the threat, they told him his troops had surrendered by the millions.
The Germans could not feed the Russian POW's. They starved by the millions.
Captured Soldiers do not help the war effort.... Very Much.
    That made Trump right. Again.

Nonsense. They named THIS YEAR's VERSION after McCain, because he is dying.
He had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

The left has been treasonously undermining the US Military since Vietnam.

Its unlikely we will engage in direct hostilities against another nuclear power.

I think contact in proxy nations is more likeley, as in syria.

So McCain is beyond criticism because he was a veteran? And what’s wrong with being called a war hero? And are you ok? This sentence “he called my dear friend and senator John McCain” has me a little concerned...

If they were more patriotic, the troops wouldn’t take any pay raise.

Obama averaged less than 2%, like everything else Trump will top Obama here also.

Obama owns the smallest pay raises to the military since 1976, so every President since Ford tops Obama?

At this point in Obama’s tenure, he was averaging over 3%, despite a huge recession.

Maybe Trump should hold off on the self-congratulation until next year.

Indeed they did. Which is why I said Trump is congratulating himself prematurely. In a year he might be able to brag meaningfully.

I mean, when you describe it as “highest pay raise except for a couple under Obama”, it points out how not earthshaking his achievement is.

And when you throw in that the REASON military pay raises were low in the later Obama years was because of the sequester — which allowed only inflationary increases in defense spending — it’s not even Obama’s fault.

so really, neither Trump nor Obama deserves credit/blame for this. Congress does.

Give Trump credit. He's rebuilding the military after Obama tried to kill it.
