Seventy percent of Americans support 'Medicare for all' in new poll

I don't know anyone who is happy about it but allowing the government to run health care is a GIANT mistake. They suck at everything they run. Have you seen how badly the VA is run?

Government does a great job at most things until the Republicans get their hands on it: Medicare, Social Security, fire departments, police, SNAP, Medicaid, Pell grants, Head Start, WIC, LIHEAP, etc.

 

Cannot possibly be any worse than the NON EXISTANT health care system we currently have.

 

I'd rather we put our effort into stopping them from coming into our country illegally, rather than paying for their medical care after they're here. In other words, enforcing our immigration laws that already exist.

 

I agree with that. But we will still have LEGAL aliens (green cards?). And then we have citizens who are not covered by insurance too. So my question stands.

 

Just because a majority may think they want something, doesn't mean it's a good idea, certainly not if done hastily. So... we'll see what happens the next time this issue comes into play during an election. My prediction is that a lot of folks will change their minds about "free healthcare". Besides, this thread is based off a poll, which ALWAYS have to be taken with a grain of salt, whether or not it seems to confirm what you believe.

Yes, it really is amazing what large spending by opposition can do to a good idea, even if the opposition is based on total lies and spin. We've seen it all too often.
