In no way am I suggesting people pretend he is a saint, but it is easy enough to acknowledge his lifelong service to the nation without dragging in petty partisanship. There has been plenty of that in the past and there will no doubt be more to come. At a fundamental level he was a decent man who tried to do what he thought best. He deserves better than people making this about Trump, or applauding his death or dredging up everything they hated about him over his career. I suspect that if these threads filled with left wingers accusing him of 'murder' in Vietnam or applauding his captors there would be an indignant reaction from the right, yet it is fine for them to accuse him of all manner of things. People could chose to take a day off making it all about themselves, rather than telling the rest of us why it is OK to do so.
Regardless of political affiliation, I think many of us admired John McCain and his unstinting service to his country.
I usually show the utmost respect for people who die. Not for this one. I'm glad that a nasty piece of work and a compulsive liar has gone. The world is a better place without him. Hero? A bloody coward who faked the whole war hero story. A real 'Nam veterans know better. A coward who was pampered by the Vietkong in comparison to others who were captured and tortured.
That's what the average Russki POW looked like before the Afghan mujas violently ass raped them, then proceeded to dismember them and spit them over an open pit fire. I wonder what that tasted like?
It depends upon the issue. What you call "petty partisanship" is not petty to others. For example, his vote against repealing obamacare was a severe blow to the nation and very negatively impacted many people - a lot of conservatives took it as a stab in the back and a betrayal of promises. And McCain was a warmonger, wanting to use military power to invade, destabilize or simply attack 13 nations over the past 15 years (https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2013/09/john-mccain-world-attack-map-syria/). Also, McCain has put the Senate in a bad situation by refusing to step aside when it was clear he could not meet his obligations. With McCain unable to vote, it put the Republicans at 50 votes with the VP as backup. That has severely weakened the conservative agenda. Why didn't he step aside a year ago? Ego, putting himself above the nation. Out of respect for his family and friends, I agree that people should not spin his death into a political issue. Let his loved ones grieve and respect their loss. But lets not make McCain into something he is not. His loss from the political arena is not a negative blow to conservatism.
John McCain, what a piece of ****! You died years ago but were just too stupid to lay down. You didn't care about this country in your later years. All that was important to you was that you had it in your ability to **** over Trump...no matter how disastrous it was to the American people. **** you and your thumbs down.
Yeah we apparently needed someone to race bait Middle America, bash cops, double the debt, chill out with racist antisemites and shakedown artists and then spend his retirement cheering on racial land confiscation in Africa.
Some are really feeling it. Arms giant Lockheed Martin's tribute to John McCain goes down... badly It's rare for a military contractor to go out of its way to highlight ties to elected officials, but US defense manufacturer Lockheed Martin wrote a most heartfelt eulogy to the late John McCain. Its sentiment was not appreciated. On Sunday, a day after the American politician's death, the Maryland-based company took to its Twitter to call the long-serving Arizona senator "an exceptionally courageous leader and a true patriot." But, with the combination of McCain's reputation as a fierce advocate of US foreign intervention and Lockheed's line of work, this was never likely to attract the say-something-nice-or-nothing-at-all crowd. The Original Elon Musk (est. 1963) @DoctorZachJones Replying to @LockheedMartin I can’t read this statement it’s covered in blood. 10:23 AM - 26 Aug 2018 Nathaniel Rugh @NathanielRugh John McCain served us well by calling and voting for war at every opportunity that presented itself. He was a boon for our stock prices and corporate profits by ensuring our bombs and military equipment would be used on innocent civilians across the world. RIP - Lockheed Martin Currie Dobson @Ventuckyspaz Replying to @LockheedMartin I wonder which politician @LockheedMartin is going to select to shovel cash towards to be the next top war whore now #McCain is gone? @RepAdamSchiff would be a fantastic one. He already takes a lot of cash from Lockheed, supports military spending and endless wars. 09:20 - 26 Aug 2018 I was always surprised McCain regarded American blood, bone, lives so cheaply. Moi Mistake, a CEO named Marillyn FYI @APACHERAT @Spooky @bigfella @Jeannette
Senator McCain died. He was good at hating Russia. It is he who is the symbol of modern Frank anti-Russian thinking. Its essence: Russia can be no other than hostile. Good Russian is a dead Russian. The important thing is that McCain did, he in fact announced that Russia is not correctable. We like would not like would not bow, no matter how you claim to love the West as they did 90 years - we will never become good. We are enemies forever! Here's McCain's logic, and it's good in its transparency and consistency. Died enemy. Give him the honor of honest enmity, honest hatred, intransigence. Others are cunning. This one says what he thinks. He taught us to understand ourselves and America better. May God accept his dark soul and determine its future.
You're either very misinformed or unwilling to speak honestly about McCain and America's position toward your criminal government.
Trump rejected plans for a White House statement praising McCain https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-rejected-plans-for-a-white-house-statement-praising-mccain/2018/08/26/0d0478e4-a967-11e8-8f4b-aee063e14538_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.5e7e86ec54d0
All of those who feel it somehow necessary to denigrate the dead are most courteously invited to my own personal zombie graveyard this Halloween where after several departed shades will return to drag their worthless souls to a well-deserved eternity of suffering these vengeful ghosts will notice their victims are still among the living, and so begin an orgy of forcing them to consume feces and expire. Bon Appetit. McCain's politics were not mine by a long shot, but even I could tell they were sincerely felt and derived from the highest ideals. The fact that his last significant action was to run afoul of the most evil aberration to ever disgrace our great country stands well to his final credit Trumphumping dicks are doing nothing but making themselves look worse, if that's possible
Is anyone surprised? Trump will go down in history as the mos DICKISH President by far. HOW can anyone support such a No Class Lout? Truly he is yet again what Bill Maher calls him, a WHINY LITTLE BITCH
Is there no standards left with regards to speaking ill of the dead that no longer have the ability to defend themselves? Maybe when you reach the purley gates he'll whip your asses.
Senator John McCain - A man with a conscience. A life well lived thinking of others and working for justice.
