I can answer for the educational part. It doesn't come as a surprise to anyone informed. It's the solely responsibility of the liberals who created the whole generation of complete morons. They completely politicised the educational system. One more generation and the USA is done.

Well, there is yet another misconception

America is not the only country in the world making advances in health care

Why good old Aus has invented commercial production of penicillin, bionic ear, cardiac pacemaker, treatment for duodenal ulcers (helicobacter) HPV vaccine and many others and it did it whilst having a universal health care system

 

Then why are the conservatives on this board so I'll informed and seemingly incapable of basic research?

It's so weird how Asians -- who don't typically nosh on fatty 'soul food' -- don't drop dead of heart attacks when they're 48.

 

I think the problem may be that they don't even recognize totalitarianism when it's right in front of them.

I mean, healthy eating is primarily a matter of self-restraint, and, to a lesser extent, education (it's not like people don't know that two Big Macs, a rack of pork ribs, and a quart of vanilla ice cream a day aren't going to eventually show up in one's medical chart), NOT voting in sanctimonious moral busybodies to 'look out for our own good' by banning foods.

Oh, yeah, we just KNOWS that Big Pharma, which charges 5 times more in America then every other country, is chomping at their bit to lower their prices massively, just as soon as our politicians cuts Big Pharma free to cut their own prices by 500%!

Our education system is a complete joke but red states rank lower than most blue states. I won’t point complete blame there as both sides are equally responsible.

So you believe that government being slightly involved is the problem here when countries where governments are completely involved are beating us? You can really reconcile this in your head?

The free market works well with somethings when people have choice. There is no choice in which overpriced hospital you are being taken to after a life threatening emergency.

 

I’m sure there has been, but other countries have this issue as well.
