Health insurance like everything in our capitalist system is rigged,insurers divvy up the country so as not to cross compete.One only has to look at the opulent multi acre'd campus style settings of most health insurance company home offices to realize the profits they know they can rely upon each year.Our politicians allow them to exist in what really amounts to a non competitive environment.

Other countries have limits on what the drug companies can charge. We don't have limits, so Americans are subsidizing the cost of drugs worldwide. The answer to this is not American price controls because that would stop all future research and development. The answer is for other countries to lift their price controls so Americans aren't stuck with the tab and R&D can continue.
