yeah, positive. just like nafta was. Cleaned up a few minor things, incorporated TPP provisions and left the WTO dispute resolution in place. We increased US dairy and milk quotas to just above TPP levels, so I guess that is a bit of a win, even if its only a few hundred million dollars. Seems like the worst trade deal in history wasn't as broke as trump would have had the world believe.
DRINK MILK Also the requirement for cars to be more, North American parts and assembly. But, admittedly I am too involved in celebrating Bravo Trump Another Day, Another Trump Victory To claim to be as aware of the fine points as @LangleyMan Moi again
The only way to stop China is the following..... 1; Completely ban all sweatshop products from being imported into the US. 2; Abolish free trade with China, Mexico, Taiwan, and all other scumbag countries which use sweatshops and have subpar labor and wage protections. With US companies holding up their economy by outsourcing jobs, the Chinese economy tanks.
I ain't a dem. And I congratulate America on it tiny "win". And watching trumpette's trying to polish his turds makes me smile.
I am a Liberal who hates Trump, but I think this is a good improvement over NAFTA. its good for Mexican workers as it mandates they get paid more. its good for American workers as it sets a more level laying field. it opens up Canadian markets to American farm goods.
Their are qualifications to that statement. Like Chinese participation in made car parts. It's about the whole deal. I have faith by nature, will violate the deal sooner rather than later as is their custom. Moi NEVER FORGET! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_War_(1859)
Now you can make fun of us all you want, but when you question our integrity you go too far. WE don't break deals but trump has quite the history of doing so. Seems america's word ain't what it used to be. And the whole deal net is that Canada gets to ship way more cars and parts to the US. Sounds more than fair to Canada once again. Seems all those lousy negotiators who were responsible for the worst trade deal in history, were replaced with equally lousy ones.
I didn't say you were a Dem. But..It's funny watching other Trump-haters squirm, too. So tell us again about Obama is so wunder-tastic that stocks hit a record high 19 months after he left and we signed lousy trade deal..
Big deal. What we have is better than NAFTA. China was using both Canada and Mexico as a backdoor into the US economy. No more.
Great to see Trump take the Republican Party leftward. raising wages for Mexican workers? Its a Liberal dream come true!!!
While I agree with some that what Trump did "scrapping NAFTA" will hurt our country, he just put the TRUMP brand on the original NAFTA agreement and changed the wording & naming, that's it. It really is the same NAFTA just with Trump's name attached.
Obama did benefit from the end of a recession. But even so, Trump is doing better in virtually every way.
