The ACLU weighs in on Trump's desire to stifle free speech rights in Washington DC:

    https://www.aclu.org/blog/free-spee...on-seeks-stifle-protests-near-white-house-and

Is this what recent alarmism over alleged liberal and leftist "mobs" is REALLY all about?

A preemptive caterwauling designed to fall in lockstep with Trump's brazen attack on the Constitution and one of its foundational rights?

Is Trump, in fact, the fascist that so many have feared he might be?

Will Kavanaugh's presence on the Supreme Court assure Trump the ability to trash the Constitution at will?

I'd like to hear from any lovers of freedom and the Constitution on this.

It's overdue. Make the protesters adhere to the laws already on the books. Get your permits and speak your minds, and stay within the police barricades. Capitol police can cordon off any perimeter they deem necessary to maintain security.

Can you imagine what it will be like if the Dems don't take the house and senate?

I don't agree with PI, but I don't believe his comments constitute a fit.

The apparent potential willingness of Kavanaugh to trash the Constitution is what bothered me about him. He was somunhinged and channeled Trump that think he would be a dictators dick on the court.m

Well the public does seem ignorant as to the rights lost in the Drug War and now Trump will help take away our ability to protest and free speech, along with the freedom of the press..

When this case comes before Kavanaugh - as it undoubtedly will if Trump's deeply disturbing plans go forward - it will be interesting to see how he opines.

Peaceful protesting outside and not creating a hazard is fine. Disrupting Senate orva House hearing is not just an expression of free speech it is interfering with the business of Congress.

Trump seems bent on stopping peaceful demonstrations unless the demonstrators are wearing made in China MAGA hats and cheering every fart he lets out of his mouth.

    If?

    When?

But did you have a view on the topic?

    Do you support free speech?

He is wanting to charge fees to protest and blocking off areas that violate court orders that have stood for decades.

Good to see another example of the the trumpets having no problem with anything he does.

This is deeply troubling, particularly with Kavanaugh on the Court.

Security around the White House is important. Protesters can find another spot.

Like in Pennsylvania or somewhere far enough away that Trumps ego can handle it. Right?

The constant complaining is what this thread is, just more fit throwing that started in November of 2016. Trump isn't trying to take away anyone's rights but he is attempting to secure the sidewalks around the white house against possible security problems.

Yes, all the years of protest by the White House have proven that...When the Peurto Rican's stormed Congress and a few folks got killed that was a lark...

Since Nov. 2016, the dems have taken up a new sense of violence against those that don't agree with them and that becomes more apparent every day.

Free speech and the right to peaceable assembly is constitutionally enshrined.

This move by Trump is an attempt to shred core constitutional guarantees.
