I feel the need to interject here, Obama's economy was not good whatsoever. He basically handed over the federal government to banks and corporations with the corporate bailouts to which ripple effects are still being felt in the economic downturn of this fantastic end of October today. The self destructive tendencies of our wonderful economic malaise has always of course been a bipartisan effort [seems to be the only thing they can agree upon.] where I like to pin point its very beginning with that of Lyndon B. Johnson.

Yeah, whenever they say cut entitlements what they're really saying is, "Let's screw over the poor people some more and take their lunch money!"

i have no problem with having reasonable amounts of money dedicated towards border security; however if they want to build "the wall", I expect Mexico to pay for it since that's what we were promised when Trump was running for office.

If only both houses of Congress could compromise on issues like we have just done; they might actually get some work done for a change!

I embrace no forms of communism, instead focusing on social democracy which is a form of socialism.

Oh, for some reason I thought you described yourself as a communist, my mistake.

    Democratic socialism?

Democratic socialism is a philosophy in which you reform capitalism from within as opposed to revolutionary methods. It's done gradually through parliamentary means.

There are various attempts going on to develop and alternative system that doesn't create these problems that it can't solve, and all of them address the inherent problems of capitalism and it's role in these problems, and many rely on some sort of socialist model that eliminates capitalism with its private ownership of industry and private profits. And that's what socialism, itself, does. Why is socialism so "scary"?

-only to the extent that it ends private ownership of business and ends private profits from business. Democratic socialism is better than social democracy, but it depends on the public's ability to stay on top of politics to prevent private businesses from gaining power over us. Socialism stops it cold.

Correct; people work for the betterment of all mankind as opposed to the individual. And yes, people need to stay on top of politics as well for the reason you stated.

Government dependence is big business. California is leading the way with one of the highest levels of government involvement. In spite of having extremely high taxes, we are the poverty capitol of the US. Sure, people are sick, but at least the pharm industry is enjoying record profits.

Forbid the majority from crawling out of poverty... O'rly?

The bottom 10% of the U.S. income distribution falls in the upper 30% of the global income distribution. American poverty is a joke compared to the average person on the planet, and all you lefties do is complain about it. US capitalism backed by the US military is the reason that American poor people are in the upper 30% of the global income distribution. Removing either would be incredibly stupid, and would pull the entire country in-line with the rest of the planet as far as income distribution is concerned. Socialism and disassembling our military is exactly what will ultimately lead to the fall of the nation. Is our system perfect, no. But it is better than any other system currently in place around the world, or that has been tried in the past.
