I have been trying to figure out when American's stopped paying attention and lost their nation. Then I wonder if we ever had control at all.
I don't think that there was a specific point in time, or event. Rather, it came on us gradually. If you insist on an answer, I suppose that most people will nominate Roosevelt's "New Deal". To me, It began with motorcycle helmet laws. As far as I know, that is when we started allowing the government to legislate our behavior; for our own good.
Not trying to rile anyone up just wondering what in the heck happened. Also if anyone is even thinking about some kind of revolution that door closed long time ago when we turned our military over to the UN Army or armies. Plus the new technology of constant eyes in the sky and drones. We don't have a chance in hell of stopping any of this now. Not sure we really have since 1913 when our money and military was turned over to outsiders. I think it is some kind of evil force that is ruling the world now but I may be wrong maybe it is the opposite of what it seems, I really don't know but I do know it looks bad.
The majority of Americans will say within the past two years. Thank god for term limits. Most of the damage (not all) will be able to be repaired.
One they started it really took off alright. Like the war on drugs now that big pharma can sell pot all of a sudden it is an ok drug. Like the opiate's they now push. They are controlling everything from drugs to food.
We never did....but as with all complex systems we go through adjustments and as this is a relatively new concept in social experimentation it evolves (sometimes dramatically).
Your an optimist and that is good for your well being. Wish I could be one. I keep saying I won't watch anymore news then I'm right back at it.
It is very important to be informed, especially right now. An uninformed populace will indeed lead to the degradation of this country as we see already in this propaganda push by "Government".
I think when Obama sent White House Aides to the funeral of a man who tried to murder a Police Officer with his own gun... Well that didn't bring the nation together... But yes...division started two years ago...
Seems all I get from any of it anymore is just more confusion and unhealthy fear I guess. I worry for all the young now they are products of society and so it is hard to blame them no matter which' side ' they are on. Like an old Cat Stevens song lyric ' their still young its not their fault there is so much they have to go through.'
I agree both have extreme's and if I wan't an independant before the last several elections I am one now. I've depended on music so much to get me thru all this everything becomes a song or a lyric in a song, guess I've finally went "Crazy" Patsy Cline, lol.
Every generation is a product of the one that came before, this one however is also dealing with the most dramatic technology changes in human history at the same time that social adaptation to the freedoms meant by our little experiment into government fully kick in. They will be a different breed without a doubt, if what we have done to the planet does not kill them.
Are you trying to make me cry? I never heard that song and it is sad. Maybe I'm a female hopeless romantic. But this song i'm dedicated to us all who are now so divided.
I decided to look at the right track wrong track polling. Pew Research took it back to 1990 through 2009, then RCP picks it up. The right track has had a history of up and downs. http://www.pewresearch.org/2009/03/26/unusually-wide-gap-in-satisfaction-right-direction-measures/ https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/direction_of_country-902.html Very rarely has the right track been above 50%, 1991 and in 2001 are the only times. even getting to 40% hasn't happen much more. Folks can take a gander at them and come to their own conclusions.
No date. Dems got more extreme. The goofs and outcasts of America swallowed it up and one day the dems could control a large portion of the vote. In the 1960s they had a show called Route 66. On one early show they complained about illegal aliens from Mexico. Putin and China are biding their time. As America becomes more gender confused, queer and doped up, then they will make their move and take us over. By that time, good chance the dems will have disarmed a lot of America as well.
I remember watching Route 66. Cookie 'lend me your comb'. I don't see much change for the good coming so glad I have all of yall to hope for me. I have kids and lots of grand kids and great grandkids who will have to deal with whatever comes along.
I think that people stopped paying attention to the big picture. Being tucked safely into one camp or another doesn't allow one to see from others' perspectives. And, being tucked safely into one country doesn't allow one to see the machinations of the world around them.
Your dog picture looks just like one of our dogs. I think when we lost our morals we lost our nation. Like the Frenchman who came here and wondered what made America such a great nation in so little time was our morals. Alexis de Tocqueville, " America is great because America is good. If America ever ceases to be good .America will cease to be great. " IMO he pretty much summed it up. As did John Adams when he said something like it, only a religious and moral people can be free.'paraquote.
I was thinking if the right track/wrong track might be the wrong indicators. that perhaps trust in government might be better when it comes to the question when did we get off track or surrender. If we don't trust our government, the one we elect, perhaps we have surrendered. Pew Research has the figures on that too. At least through 2017. http://www.people-press.org/2017/12/14/public-trust-in-government-1958-2017/ Perhaps the assassination of JFK was the beginning of lack of Trust in our own government which could equate to surrender. Watergate sped it up. You have a rebound under Reagan/Bush I, then downward again beginning with Bill Clinton although there was a slight upward tick. Rose to a 60% after 9-11, a mark not seen since 1968 then dived into the pits. Perhaps it is the knowing that government is going to do what government wants to do regardless of what the people want or party in charge.
Also multiculturalism has never worked and never will. Divisional conflicts will go on until one will eventually rule over the other. Unless under dictatorship of course then all will be ruled by one.
