I find it refreshing when a Democrat is honest enough to admit that they want to ban and confiscate "assault weapons". Like this guy knows the definition of "assault weapon".

"After conservatives criticized Swalwell for calling for the forcible confiscation of assault weapons, Swalwell responded by upping the ante.

Conservative commentator Joe Biggs charged Swalwell with wanting a war. Swalwell enthusiastically agreed in the most insane way possible. "

So basically @RepSwalwell wants a war. Because that’s what you would get. You’re outta your f***ing mind if you think I’ll give up my rights and give the gov all the power.

And it would be a short war my friend. The government has nukes. Too many of them. But they’re legit. I’m sure if we talked we could find common ground to protect our families and communities.

Here is the oath of enlistment for military folks:
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I don't see asshat Swalwell's name anywhere on that oath. It seems that he thinks the military will blindly just go and try to take people's guns cuz he's him. The guy is a self propelled brain fart. I mean, screw the Constitution, just go get the guns

"Gun owners from across the country, and gun advocates alike, locked and loaded their thoughts toward one Democrat Rep. from California on Friday. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) rolled out his plan to use $15 billion to buy back semi-automatic weapons from Americans."

$15 billion is a lot less than the annual cost of gun violence.

The state of California not only broke, it is deeply in debt. Where is is going to get the fifteen billion dollars for such a useless waste of time? What program is going to have the funding stripped from its budget for the purpose of this political theater?

He only mentioned buying back "assault weapons", and even if he were 100% there would be no measurable impact to the homicide rate or suicide rate in the US.

Why would California be paying for it? He's a member of the US House of Representatives. US Congress would have to come up with the money for the buyback.

$15 billion could take 30 million guns out of circulation if $500 were paid for each gun.

And then the people who sold the crappy non-working guns would have money with no reduction in "danger", and the gun owners who sold Heritage revolvers and Ruger LCRs would use the money to go buy new guns. Of course, you couldn't do this in Colorado because you have to have an FFL do the buyback and none of ours have since 2013.

I wonder what price he would put on the Constitution. To me it's priceless as are my rights. Will never happen.

No, he's just stating the obvious. It would be impossible to take 2nd Amendment Rights and guns form citizens. It's a stupid premise that the military would do Swalwell's bidding. Swalwell's blowing smoke out of his ass.

I don't have a gun that is worth under a grand and I have a pile of guns. Well, one shotgun worth about 700. The rest are 1k and more.

You assume people would sell for $500. Not I and not those that have far more invested. I don't own a single gun I'd sell for that price, but if I hear of such a program, I may buy a few in the $250 range and sell them.

Such an amount is barely the market price of a new Glock brand semi-automatic handgun. No individual is going to willingly accept less than their own investment to give up their legally owned firearms. This is especially the case if a particular firearm cost one thousand to three thousand dollars.

I mentioned a few I have in the price range I'd sell, and use the proceeds to buy better ones. I wonder if the $150 single action Heritage .22 has ever been used in a homicide? Firearm arbitrage.

500 would be rock bottom pricing for ARs. They go into the thousand dollar - two thousand dollar range easily.

Like Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, easy to spend other people's money. Personally, I think the government should pay for me, and everyone, to have a licensed bodyguard... then I wouldn't need to CC. But, then, who'd be the bodyguard's bodyguard?

Not even 10% of the guns in the U.S. If just going after assault type weapons, $500 apiece is not close to market value. Most are upwards of $1000.
