CIA director Haspel caught in Khashoggi briefing tug-of-war

WWGHWBHD. What would G HW Bush have done? Not lied about how many jobs and how much money was at stake with defense contracts. Not ignored the findings of the intel agencies (that rings a bell). Not send a message to the world that it's OK to murder a US based journalist as long as you are doing business with us. Not kept the CIA director from briefing Congress. Not be questioned as to the motivation for trying to sweep the matter under the rug because of personal business interests with the Saudis.

‘A smoking saw’: Senators say Saudi crown prince was ‘complicit’ in journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s killing after CIA briefing

    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/04/sen...-in-khashoggi-killing-after-cia-briefing.html

"Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., emerged from a closed-door briefing led by CIA Director Gina Haspel on Tuesday more convinced than ever that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was “complicit” in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi."

Bush had a great relationship with SA, part of the reason for the Gulf War was because he wanted to defend SA, and he feared not responding to Saddam’s aggression would lead to him invading SA.

"His and other senators’ remarks appeared to contradict senior Trump administration officials — as well as Trump himself — who have claimed that no “direct evidence” links the Saudi leader to the killing."

How much longer will GOP senators stay loyal to the Divider-in-Chief? Until they decide he has become a liability, not to the country's well being, but to their re-election.

So the Crown Prince murdered the journalist. It happened in a foreign country and inside an embassy so what are you folks suggesting that Trump do?

For starters, how about not lie about the CIA's conclusions. Secondly, not pretend the sanctions leveled against the men who carried out MBS' order are an adequate response. I don't think anyone is suggesting a response is not tricky business. But it has to start with acknowledging MBS' role in the murder.

Graham on Senate rebuke of Saudi Arabia: 'Someone's got to do it'

    https://www.politico.com/story/2018/12/04/graham-senate-rebuke-saudi-arabia-1041379

"Sen. Lindsey Graham on Monday championed the Senate's willingness to publicly rebuke the Saudi Arabian government despite the White House's unwillingness to do the same, slamming the Gulf monarchy and calling out Secretary of State Mike Pompeo by name for accusing senators of grandstanding on the issue."

Who cares? Why do we care what foreign countries conduct extrajudical executions? Nobody cared when President Obama did them.

As fun as it is to be world police, we can't afford to unfriend the Saudis. Russia would quickly fill that void.

When are the human rights abuses of China going to be addressed? If folks are so concerned about such things then why the hypocrisy? Are folks really concerned with such things?

Don't sacrifice even one American job for a minor incident.

And isn't it odd that the Turks permitted the assassination team to enter their country then cried foul.

The pious are screaming the loudest. Trump is being practical and not play-acting. People are murdered by ruthless regimes every year. We do nothing and that's what we should do in this case. The media is keeping the story alive because the guy was a journalist. Most journalist are pious.

Why is this even a news story? Because the lying liberal media wants to pin something on Trump!

At least 42 journalists worldwide were killed in 2017 in retaliation for their work — which marks a drop from the 48 killed in 2016 (Obama's fault?). I'm not sure about Mexico, but I think at least 10 were killed in Mexico alone THIS YEAR!

Maybe journalists need to start telling the truth!

A Saudi national killed by Saudi arabia, in Turkey, is always Trump's fault! ;)

He was a Saudi citizen. We have billions at risk. Saudi is one of our strongest allies in the ME. Not willing to flush our alliance over one Saudi citizen that was killed in Turkey. Turkey is the worst when it comes to treatment of the press. This is a real good example of Turkey's two faced ethos. They are using our own press as a tool and a mighty fine tool they are. Our press ignores what Turkey does on a regular basis to the press but goes gonzo about what the US hasn't done to the Saudis in the spirit of "cuz Trump". Turkey is stirring the pot. I think Turkey knew this was going to happen but let it happen to use it as a tool.

Trump refusal to act is a ground for an impeachment charge.

LOL! Trump refusing to act when a saudi national is killed by their own countrymen, in Turkey, is impeachment grounds?

Do you realize how hilariously insane that sounds?

Maybe it's time to put the flame out.

But don't exhume him and impeach him.

Back in 1963 it was legal for POTUS to order the assassination foreign world leaders.
