nope, chingler, your interp is only a burp. Lieu said your "incovenient scrap of paper" does right in protecting free speech.

No, he did not say that at all. Try reading what he actually said instead of ad libbing

I assume that that was a question.
No, I never said that entities like the ADL were government organizations however they do seek to repress free speech and directly influence politicians who do make the laws.

My point is that entities like the ADL were successful in persuading at least 14 governments to criminalize free speech relating to discussing WW2.

Which he followed up by saying that it isn't the role of government to do so and that the First Amendment is a good thing, the exact opposite of your false characterization. If you want to go after a politician who actually hates the 1st Amendment, then go after Trump. He was out this weekend talking about how the courts should even intervene against SNL's coverage of him.

    Boils down to this
Lieu would love to take away first amendment rights but that pesky constitution keeps him from doing so which he admits
so what he is saying if it wasn't for the constitution he would be a fascist

No, he said it was a good thing it was there, not that it was "pesky." Trump, on the other hand, actively hates free speech.

Unlike Trump, this guy thinks it is a good thing that he can't take away free speech. Trump wants the courts to intervene because SNL is being to mean to him.

OK this started with someone trying to say conservatives also want to regulate speed. The ADL is not a conservative group and advocates many liberal positions. So what exactly was your point injecting them here?

chingler, taking slice out of context to get an imprecise meaning is what you do in most arguments.

The whole paragraph when cited blows your argument out of the water.

It should make sense to anyone who read it. It wasn't a complex thought. Again, if you want to go after a real enemy of the 1st, go after Trump.

ah, see now go back an re-read the thread title. you’ll note ‘chingler’ is not actually the topic.

“i would love to regulate the content...”

not would like to... not hey wouldn’t it be neat...

the man contradicted himself at best. at worst he revealed the tyrannical pangs underlying most mainstream progressive philosophy. orwell could not have written better...

chingler cannot get away from the truth of "chingler, taking slice out of context to get an imprecise meaning is what you do in most arguments. The whole paragraph when cited blows your argument out of the water.", which refutes chingler's OP.

He's called for flag burners to be jailed, he's had his administration look into amending the first amendment, he's said it is a shame that the press can publish whatever they want and that someone should look into changing that, he's called for courts to intervene to investigate bias (not illegal) at MSNBC and SNL. He's tried suing the New York Times for their "irresponsible intent" (not a crime. And he's tried suing a business analyst for publishing a negative opinion of one of his casinos. All you guys have on Lieu is a bad reading of part of one of his quotes.

That would be a personal lawsuit not a government regulation.

He would do it as a government official, not a private person.

    cite, please.

    cite, please.

    cite, please.

    cite, please.

it’s a violation of free speech to sue for libel?

“i’d love to” are his very own words that he said with his very own mouth.
