So in an effort to try and understand the world today I have been returning to the sorce so to speak by reading the original works of philosophers mainly I am reading Plutarch and Sartre at this time.

When I got my masters in philosophy we got an introduction in to Sartre and esitentialism. I am more of a stoic myself but I can’t help but see the parallel in society to Sartre’s philosophy of define your own essence. So I have been reading his books nausea, as well as being and nothingness (and Plutarch Lives). The more I read the more parallels I see.

So is it the philosophy that defines today or is it something like utilitarianism or nihilism or something completely different?

    Opinions?
