In a democracy, compromises have to be made, especially when only 38% of people approve of your work.

Perhaps he should have surrounded himself with honest people rather than criminals and incompetents in his campain and position as President... even though he himself is the least honest President in the history of this country.

What type of third party would you envision?

If you play with numbers, it's easy to say the shutdown cost the US 1.2B a week or about 6 billion. That's more that what Trump was asking. Trump said he would take blame for the shutdown from the onset.

In the next 3 weeks, Pelosi needs to go on a long trip, preferably to a warzone (by herself). That could be Afghanistan or about anywhere in Sinaloa. Maybe she should join a caravan that's headed back where they came from.

I'd really like to see a party that represents that vast swath in the middle - socially leaning liberal and economically leaning conservative. People who don't freak out about a gay couple getting married or a a person buying a gun.

 

Sounds like the leader of such a party would need to be a cross between John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. Out of 330,000,000 citizens, a person like that probably exists. Getting the needed political backing and money would be the biggest hurdle. I would like to see more moderation from both parties. The divide is caused by poor leaders. If I were King I would fire them all!

 

Psst I think the 'play' works in this country. I think it works regardless of political ideology. Margaret Thatcher won her elections with many of the same personality traits that media smacked Hillary around for on this side of the pond. 'Cold', 'ruthless', 'power hungry'. In comparable men we see the same traits as serious, ambitious and tough. Its sexism. Hillary simply could not be warm or charming enough to win sufficient voters to gain national office. A congresswoman fortunately does not need to be, so Feinstein, Sen. Clinton and Pelosi can survive.

It wasn't just Nancy though. All the Dems in the House deserve credit. They stood together...they owned the narrative on every credible network...they projected a unified message...and they stood together. They're actually acting like a party for the people. I'm very proud to be a Liberal Democrat these days. They're clearly showing the difference between what the Democrats are and what they stand for vs the racist, anti-worker, anti-humanity, anti-Democracy, anti-truth party that is the other side.

He also offered the additional judges, the electronic monitoring she wanted. What has she offered and wht will she offer now that the government is back open.
