This is a real dilemma for myself & many in this Nation. I conceal carry (CC) / in my car more than not. I also want to support my President (as I ideologically agree with his agenda) and the commensurate ideals that I hold to in 'making America great again'. I realize that my mere choice of personal attire will put me at great risk of being confronted & increasing the chances that I may have to protect myself from great bodily harm. Were I to ever draw my firearm while wearing a MAGA hat I don't think that I would fare well in the courts...

Does this cut both ways equally or is it the progressive element that is disproportionally acting out in violence? I want to exercise my Constitutional rights without fear - but this is far from being the case...

Wear your hat and carry your gun and if some fool does something stupid, use your permit as intended. The alternative is what the left wants. Don't give them ****.

I'd suggest having more than one mechanism available to deal with possible adversity. A book titled Verbal Judo is very good and goes a long way towards conflict resolution. There are a lot of things you can do to mitigate danger.

I think you'll be disappointed to learn that nobody really cares.

Whatever self importance or power you seem to think you're going to derive by walking around in public with a gun isn't going to make up for the obvious fear and paranoia. You should get help.

And frankly, folks with attitudes like that should probably be thinking twice about walking around with weapons.

Regardless, wear your hat. It's not my politics at all, but your privelege.

It's not paranoia when people with MAGA hats really are being attacked.

And a lot of things one can do not to get shot, like not ****ing with someone who's wearing a political opponent's branding.

I would say if you really want to support your president, ditch the hat and go to work for his campaign.
But if your true motive is just to aggravate people the gun is probably a good idea.
But drop the idea of just drawing it. If your going to draw it, shoot, or you may find you are messing with someone that will shoot.

If you are in Montana, you'd likely be fine. Other States, depending on the jurisdiction, could be a real problem.

Update: Crazed Leftist with Mohawk Who Attacked Elderly Trump Supporter and Chased Him Out of Starbucks FIRED From Her Job

Make those sumbitches live by their own rules!

A crazed leftist with a mohawk attacked an elderly gentleman minding his own business inside of a Starbucks in Palo Alto, CA because he was wearing a red MAGA hat.

Mankey was an accountant at Gryphon Strings Instruments, according to an online profile.

“We would like to make it clear that we do not condone harassment or hate speech of any kind. We are currently addressing the matter internally. Thank you for your concern,” Gryphon Strings said in a Facebook post Tuesday.

A few hours later, Gryphon Strings announced they terminated Parker Mankay. “The employee in question has been terminated,” the Facebook post said. “Gryphon does not believe anyone should be harassed or subject to hate speech no matter their beliefs.”

People got attacked for wearing Obama gear, and I got ran off the road for displaying an anti Bush bumper sticker. But I never cowered in fear, and ran out to get and carry a gun for the illusion of protection.

I CC solely for my & 'mine' protection & don't have any misgivings about the awesome responsibility, 'fearful reality' & potentially devastating consequences of doing so. I have never & will likely never carry myself in comport or expression differently - than if I were Not to be carrying at all.

This a suppositional thread on the reality of where we are at societally and within our legal system.

I have carried for the last twenty years and been an instructor for the last seven of them. Personally, I subscribe to the gray man theory. Blend into the crowd and avoid doing or wearing anything out of the ordinary. Tactical gear or clothing, tee shirts with a statement, or political attire I do not recommend. Train hard and often, keep your firearm covered, tell nobody you are armed, always be aware of escape routes, and keep your head in the game at all times.

Unlike the yahoo's who slap a .45 on their hip and walk around cause they can. Like you, I prefer keeping the sheep unaware and undisturbed.

The only thing that stops a maga hat looking for provocation is a good guy with a gun.

Hope you don’t meet someone with a quicker response ;)

So wearing a MAGA hat is provocation? Provocation for whom?

Likely the one wearing the hat is for provocation.
It could be seen as a sign of white nationalism, akin but not equal to swastika.
tRUMP shows disdain over 1/2 of America and wearing the symbol could be taken for the same.
    Of course all just opinion.

To add a couple of legal points to the above excellent list for OP, 1. Know the self-defense laws in your jurisdiction, including case law, and keep abreast of changes and key decisions/fact patterns. Many jurisdictions will have a web site that tracks these things for those interested. Make sure any internet or other sources are specific to one's own jurisdiction. 2. Even if the jurisdiction is "stand your ground," pretend like it isn't if at all possible and plan several different safe withdrawal paths from an escalating situation for each scenario that entails drawing a weapon.

To the topic, when calculating effects of wearing political attire on a prospective jury or judge, around election time is usually fine, not as much generally. Note that a child was tried and convicted by the MSM merely for standing silently with a MAGA hat on. Hopefully he will become rich due to that, but don't assume anyone else, especially an adult would.

and a jury could see it that way too, so if one kills a black person that is attacking them, best not to have a red MAGA hat on

I would not risk it... either party... it's sad, but that is how divided this country has become

Just for point of comparison (no offense meant, discussion point only)

'Likely the one wearing the hat for 'Hope & Change' is for provocation. It could be seen as a sign of Islam - anti Christian tenets, akin but not equivalent to Sharia'.

As a Persian Iranian American I took great umbrage to Obama's repeated overtures to Islam! I would gladly enumerate them on another thread...

As far as the law is concerned, your force in self-defense has to be reasonable (i.e. in proportion to the amount of force used by the attacker).
