Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) benefited financially from the existence of private prisons despite vowing to ban them on the grounds that they are “profiteering off cruelty,” a report from the Washington Free Beacon revealed.

Just another example of top hypocrisy from top Democrats.

Warren is into profiteering off cruelty.

She's like an even more wall street version Hillary Clinton.

These people are so corrupt it's disgusting. Obama made $400 grand a year for 8 years. Yet his net worth when he left office was 38 million. Things are about to get very bad in this country

Moronic complaint. The Obamas signed book deals and made speaking engagements after leaving office. Then they signed a deal with Netflix to produce content - the first of which was a winner at Sundance Film Festival. No "secret" deals and they released THEIR tax returns every year in office.

I am glad to see Warren being scrutinized. Biden is on his way out.

I'm not a Warren supporter but this is pretty weak. Vanguard is a retirement fund manager. How many people actually keep track of where their fund managers are investing their money?

So she's not accountable for funding for profit prisons as she criticizes them?

    Its 2019.

    Unbelievable!

Warren had money in a domestic STOCK INDEX FUND! An index fund pools everything! An index fund she had divested SEVEN YEARS AGO!

So these Republicans claim Warren is supposed to have been a hypocrite, yet Republicans and Trumpies who have the small, highly closed secret ownership who Trump had no way to realize Trump was hiring KNOWN illegal aliens for take his businesses!!!

Pullleeese!!! This is pathetic Trump failure!

    From the OPs own source!

Have you ever looked at the original investors in private prisons? They are all Christian Republicans like Chick Filet.

Dec 28, 2017 · Private prison investors set for giant windfall from Trump tax bill. With dividends of more than $430m paid out by the two major private prison companies in 2017, in theory, prison investors could see an additional $50m in dividend earnings next year, thanks to the GOP legislation. The actual figure will be lower than that, however,...

LOL! Vanguard target retirement fund 2035. I have that one too. This has got to be one of the weakest attempts to smear Warren. But, what else is expected from you and Breitbart?

Unfortunately, there will be some who will believe and spread the smears.

Well as much as I think Warren is crazier than a June bug and would be hard pressed to manage a lemonade stand let alone our country. I find this OPs opinion weak. Certainly not damning and Breitbart if not sounding desperate to counter the Lefts 1000% more mudslinging against Prez Trump..it does sound trivial. CNN worthy even.. let the leftists babble incessantly I say. Americans know what to do on election day

Actually, in my view that makes her more like the regular American who invests into low-cost, no overhead index funds to buy and hold for a safe retirement. It's the smart thing to do.

Second, we know this info about her how? We know exactly what Trump invests in? No. I tell you how we know: She released her tax returns. So, who is more straightforward with the American people, Trump or Warren? Who has things to hide?

I agree. One thing that has to be added, for people who don't know. Vanguard was THE driving force of bringing low cost, index fund investing to we, the people, taking the financial middlemen, who suck retirements funds dry for personal gain, out of the equation. Thank you Jack Bogle. Knowing that she invests in Vanguard target retirement funds makes her more likable to me.

I don't think we are disagreeing? I stated the OP was lacking. If her financial manager invested in funds associated with these Prisons who cares? On a slightly off topic note..I've never understood this obsession with Trump and his tax returns. I mean under multiple party leadership's he never had a problem nor did the IRS have an issue so I think it's just a shallow talking point. Man has money. Wth we all think we can analyze his taxes better than the IRS? It's all just a deflection due to not having anything of merit to talk about.

Now this is a good point, my original opinion was based on logic and rationale. So pretty much if this was Trump..all by itself the left would be keel hauling him over this as would 80% of our media...I wonder what CNNs take on this is...oh wait I looked. No coverage

    Ridiculous, isn't it?

BTW: Here is the VTSAX prospectus (I own that one too):

    https://advisors.vanguard.com/funds/reports/q850.pdf

It invests in 3650 stocks Go ahead and try to find the needle in the haystack, CCA, there, and, Trump fans, feel free to pretend that you or she would have known what it means, without Breitbart telling you.

She's campaigning against private prisons as she herself profits from them.

    Thats not opinion thats fact.

And in my opinion it is just another example of Warren/leftist hypocrisy.

She should just scream fake news until it comes out that she didn’t do it and then scream it isn’t really a big deal once she gets caught. Seems to be working well for the republican right.

I wonder if she said some variation of “no matter what I do I will not lose a single supporter” would cause y’all to be irate?

    yes, complete hypocrisy

It’s going to be a fun election.

She invested in a common stock that invests in thousands of companies
She was mistaken about her heritage and immediately reported it once she had a dna test
    She’s a woman!

The Massachusetts senator invested up to $50,000 in a Vanguard Group fund that owned hundreds of millions of dollars worth of shares in leading private prison companies. Warren sold her stakes in that fund in exchange for a different retirement account in 2013. At the time, the fund was the largest shareholder of America's largest private prison corporation.
    https://freebeacon.com/politics/warren-invested-in-private-prisons/

yeah she directly invested in that group and directed her broker to make sure that is was prison manufacturing and supply logistic operations.

She enriched herself off of the same system she claims to lament.

She lied for years about her "heritage" (powwow chow) for her personal political benefit.

In other words, she's a top democrat.
