It seems that Trump's immature rants and attacks on non-supporters energizes his Republican base. I am curious to see if Pelosi's action will energize Democrats. In reality the more mature, intelligent and independent Republicans and Democrats should be able to criticize immature behaviors of their leaders. If we only respond positively to inappropriate actions of our leaders, we are just encouraging them to act worse and worse. AND, our president does not need to behave worse than he already does.

Whether Nancy Pelosi was just playing to her San Francisco base, or was attempting to ward off a takeover by "The Squad" (i.e. AOC et. al), I cannot say with any certainty.

But she did, anyway, further the view that the other party is not merely the loyal opposition, but that it is actually The Enemy.

You are correct: Neither the right nor the left is entirely devoid of hypocrites.

But I still insist that Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself.

As another poster mentioned, she acted like a spoiled (and puerile) brat.

If a Republican Speaker of the House had acted in such a churlish manner, I would certainly have noted that.

Individual "[r]ighties" are simply not important enough to mention.

I agree. However we have been witnessing a serious change is the identity of Nancy Pelosi. She has obviously lost the control that a Speaker normally has, and has had to allow the left extremists latitude to sway the parties general direction that way. When you start letting those under your leadership tell you what to do- you do become somewhat of a puppet, and that would qualify as a third-rate politician. You can check a little history and see that Pelosi was adamantly against an impeachment in the beginning, and said so without qualification. Pressure built from the radicals- like brat kids who ignore the instructions of parents or teachers and dare them to do anything about it- and Pelosi folded. Not only agreeing to go forward with it, but taking an aggressive and hostile approach, despite the "serious/prayerful" crap she alleged.... down to the gifting of the many pens used for the signing to associates. She allowed the freshmen members of her own party to buffalo her into that. The Pelosi we used to know is gone.

The Opposing Political Party (in a Highly-Charged Partisan Atmosphere) being viewed (By the Other Party) as "The Enemy"?

    What a Novel Political Concept.

With Highly Original Hot Takes like that, may I suggest that you pursue a book deal.:handshake:

Anyway, back to the OP and Pelosi:

Outside of the Opinions of Trump Hyper-Partisans, there is Universal Agreement that Nancy Bested Trump.

^That is undeniable and completely beyond dispute.

    Carry on.:salute:

    I agree completely!

Apparently, she is afraid that AOC types ("The Squad") will take total control of the party (if they have not already).

And it is, indeed, a joke for her to claim that the impeachment process was a sad and solemn moment, in which she took no pleasure--and then turn around, and joyously give out those pens, as souvenirs.

Actually, it is you that appears to be the "Highly-Charged Partisan."

And your evident view that it is "a Novel Political Concept" (caps in original) to see the other party as the loyal opposition, rather than as The Enemy, really speaks for itself.

You can thank Trump (and his Toxic Politics of Division) for that.

It is definitely true that President Trump has, too often, been divisive (and just plain insulting) in the words that he has chosen. And that is simply inexcusable--and certainly unpresidential--in my view.

But I really do not suppose that he was the first to plunge into this toxic brew--or even that his actions preceded those of the Democrats in the House (who now, of course, comprise the majority there).

The only way to respect the office is by removing that trash that currently inhabits it.

People who are not hopelessly blinded by partisanship, saw it for what it was. I would explain it but I'm afraid it would be a futile effort.

Altering quotes is a Rule Violation.

So, you may want to edit that and take out that part where you attributed something to me that I DID NOT Post.

    This was what I posted:

"You can thank Trump (and his Toxic Politics of Division) for that"

    I DID NOT Post This:

"You can thank Trump (and his Toxic Politics of Division) [seeing the opposition as The Enemy]"

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to your editing.:salute:

Are you quite unaware of what brackets mean?

If I may explain, they mean that you did not actually say those words; I have interpolated them.

But they were certainly implied, as I previously spoke of those on the left seeing the President as "The Enemy"; and you defended that by claiming that this is because of President Trump's "Toxic Politics of Division." (Caps in original)
