Just wondering how you're going to handle Trumps reelection? Are you prepared?

Notice how they won't address actual points and facts.

All they do is screech emotionally.

You are avoiding the key issue.

Trump is actively lying about whether this budget will cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

You want to argue that they should be lowered and that's fine. But first acknowledge that Trump is not being honest about his own proposal.

You're very patient, my friend; 5 years is a long time and then nobody will care, except you.

I'm not avoiding anything, you are.

You can't explain why removing able bodied people from welfare, or any of the other changes, is bad.

All you keep doing is advancing the ridiculous point that spending less is somehow bad.

In essence, your argument is infantile.

Cutting waste is not cutting a program. Indeed, it's saving the program.

There's no such thing as a self-funded system. In fact, there were projections that the trust fund could bankrupt as soon as 2048. This is because as more people are born into the US, and as more people get into the system, the more of a backlog there actually is. It's not whether or not there will be a cut, there HAS to be a cut. We cannot live this way, where we essentially fund our own existence.

A safety net, in my opinion gives us the capacity of bouncing back on our feet and becoming self-productive people in a short amount of time.

    Oh well done.

    Arguing with a headline.

There's a compelling argument to what I said.

    Keep hiding.

Telling a poster to "read past the headline" got me a 10 point infraction to put your post in perspective.

And yet again we have the usual hysteria, false claims, ad hominem attacks and hyperbole.

Trump IS NOT proposing cuts to Social Security. People claiming otherwise should name the SPECIFIC CUTS you claim Trump is proposing to Social Security.

How do you know they are below..."well below" where they'd be without the tax cuts? Are you assuming the economy would still be booming and unemployment in the same place?

Krugman and his followers probably said it.. Now granted Krugman was not even close to being correct when he turned into a toad for the NY Times but they keep going back to the same water fountain for a nice long drink.

Based on the Trump quote provided in this thread, you need to recognize he stated no cuts in BENEFITS which if my example is correct, would in fact not indicate Trumps statement was false.

If programs need more funding because conditions change, they should be appropriated through the normal process as they do now. Reality is we will never reduce spending if we don’t reduce the budget. Budget cuts are never easy, which is why government hates doing it.

I think politicians promise more than they can control.

    Dont say Agenda> all either....

You can suggest a poster kill their family and then themselves.. that is "walking the line" here..

Just a friendly PSA... Its perfectly fair and balanced here of course though.

Some time ago I got in a back and forth argument here on this very subject with a forum member who claimed that the Treasury IOU to the Social Security Trust Fund is an investment. Since this IOU is represented by "special securities" that can not be sold on a financial market, can only be redeemed by the Government, and no assets exist to redeem them, the Social Security Trust Fund is clearly a pyramid scheme and future generations will be left holding the bag so to speak. Any trustees who operated a real trust fund like the Social Security Trust Fund would be put in jail.
