    Where is this at? In my state folks don’t register with a party.

    I am shocked that there is so little interest in these statistics.

    Why are you shocked?

    Trumpsters routinely post how they think they are the majority. They have no concept of numbers or size unless it is spoonfed to them by Fox News or Limpaw.

    I am also shocked by why so few women voters seem to support female candidates.

    Jesus Christ dude, stop trying to keep your thread alive.

    You're probably being ignored because most smart people, Democrat and Republican, understand there's been a decade plus long trend towards political party independence, and the increasing numbers of independent voters are coming from both parties.

    Why should anyone support a candidate based upon their gender? As for women supporting women, I think women are very intuitive and perceptive about other women, and so it doesn't necessarily surprise me.

    I think some people think that's important, but a lot of them don't. Their support for a candidate is based upon other things, not gender.

    As for your original question, I think having a lot of independent voters is healthy. It shows that more people want to think for themselves rather than to just blindly support one party or the other.

    What dwindling numbers? 100% of the Republican vote goes to Trump and while independents won't vote for all Republicans 100% of them will be voting for Trump again.

    I suspect that is true. Democrats fleeing the sinking ship don't want to be republicans, and the only other choice is independents. That means they are mostly Trump voters, and they are welcomed.

    Well Id be a registered independent if my state allowed it, and I'd still vote along Republican lines... So I personally don't see the point YOU would like us to see ;)

    This has been a trend for a decade and the majority of Independents come from Republican Party defections. The rationalizations for this, that I see here from Trump supporters, is laughable. People leave a party because it no longer represents their values. Democratic numbers have not declined very much or have been stable.

    I was a registered Republican for decades, but when that party no longer represented my conservative values, I became an Independent. Simple as that. Republicans deny the reality of the situation that their party is in the minority and dwindling. They should spend some time thinking that through.

    Why would anyone care about 31 states that exclude most Red States. My country has 50 states. According to Gallup
    https://news.gallup.com/poll/15370/party-affiliation.aspx

    2020 Jan 16-29
    Republicans=
    30%
    Independents=42%
    Democrats=27%

    2020 Jan 16-29 Republicans + Republican leaners =48%
    Democrats + Democratic leaners=44%

    Don't you care that your party is in the dumpster?

    ONLY 31 states require voters to register by party affiliation,the remaining 19 just register voters not knowing or asking for party affiliation.

    GALLUP IS A BIASED POLL RESULT, not actual voter registration data.

    However, this is true for both sides. I accept two labels- Independent, because I will think for myself and choose whom I feel in best for the nation. That's not always accurate, but it reflects values I see in the man rather than party line loyalty. I voted for Obama the first time. I was disappointed, but at the time felt it was the best option. I also describe myself as a conservative. Not because I fit some textbook definition, but because it describes the way I look at things and make decisions.

    Many can say- "I didn't leave the party; the party left me". Sounds like you did that. More people should when their party's' values no longer reflect what they believe is right.

    So, you're comfortable drawing conclusions from your 31 states of America while ignoring 19 states that include many Red States and you expect Republicans to shutter in fear.

    I know a guy who visited 57 states and had one to go.
