Sarcasm, the new alternative fact.

Get caught in a lie? “Could be a set up?”
"Obviously it was sarcasm."
Say something truly ignorant? " slow Covid-19 testing "
"Only people with no sense of humor would miss the sarcasm."

I feel for the folks a Webtser's, time was words had meanings that we all understood, now it's become many words mean the opposite of what we thought just a short while ago or are synonyms and antonyms simultaneously.

 

It's "Doublespeak", been around a very long time, especially common in politics- just being perfected as a tool for confusion, evasion and division by the dems these days.

To make matters worse, anybody who says that is labeled as a stupid Dem Trump hater.

 

Here's a few examples, " We have to pass this bill to see what's in it." " If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor." "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." "What difference does it make?"

 

It's sad that this has become 'status quo' for America. That the POTUS makes outrageous comments and then denies his intent. But sadder, for me, is the number of people who will stand by the outrageous comment and turn a blind eye when the denial occurs.

 

Thankfully, sarcasm is a standard form of communication in the UK, so our politicians can't hide their lies behind it.

 

Sadly here it has reached the point where both sides lie so pervasively that the truth often becomes wholly obscured.

 

Well when you hate HEROES who can drink water single handedly, you clearly hate 'murica! Why do you hate 'murica?

 

Oh, our politicians do that too. They just can't get away with it by saying "I was being sarcastic" because we'd just laugh at them (more than we do anyway).

 

Perhaps the most ludicrous of all examples is :

That's kind of like saying we need to shoot ourselves in the head so we will know what it feels like.

The left believes in letting bygones be bygones, provided they make them look bad. Otherwise, they live forever....

Here's another Trump invited the Soviet Union to spy on the Clinton campaign. Never happened. What he did do was suggest that the Russians had already hacked Hillary's illegal server.

 

Oh ffs, all of those have been long debunked. Nothing but horse pucky in the first place, every one taken out of context. I refuse to go back in time and debate them all over again.

So if I understand your meaning, you don't think the President's comments were sarcasm, and that he was dead serious when he said that he ordered the slow down of testing?

I'm guessing you probably thought that when Trump said, "Russia if you're listening..." that he was really passing on instructions to his Russian handlers.

 

Trump himself has stated at least twice that I know of that he wasn't kidding, that he meant what he said, and that he actually believes that if we do less testing, we'll have less illness. He's really that ignorant. And in the information age, ignorance is a choice.

 

Then I'm sure you will have no problem pointing out the instructions that he gave to anyone at the Surgeons General office or the FDA and CDC to slow down testing.

 

It does not matter whether or not he actually issued instructions to anyone. He made sure to say these things loudly and publicly. His adoring supporters take it very seriously and spread his disinformation far and wide. They, too, think that we only have a problem because we keep counting the sick people. It's a freaking cult. (And yes, I know, someone will be offended by that and take it personally and report me to the mods. It won't be the first time I've had a post deleted for calling Trumpism what it is: a cult. If the truth hurts ...)

 

It does matter whether or not he actually issued instructions to someone if you think he was serious. Your argument comes down to, he was serious about slowing testing, but told no one about it until he was in front of a crowd. That goes against the credibility of your argument.

 

Wait. He may yet do that. He really is that stupid.

My argument isn't that he'll do it, but that he was not kidding when he said it. He truly believes that less testing means fewer infections. It's equal to wishing away cancer. "If I don't see a doctor and get tested and treated, then I don't have the disease."

 

That's an interesting prediction! Let me know when he orders a slowdown in testing.

 

The sarcasm we see was introduced by covert cognitive infiltratration and must be countered by knowledgeable groups that use truth and law to dismiss the disinformation effort.

 

That's not really a statement about Trumps state of mind at all- but about yours. What you choose to believe, because it's convenient for you.
