Here you have it. The Huffpo appears to endorse looting. Is the mask finally completely off:

Appears to endorse looting? That's not how I read it. The article is an interview with the author of a book, and it calls the tactics of rioting, looting, and violence into question. The book author's justifications are, IMO, not terribly convincing.

Overall, I'd say the interview is a good way to get people thinking objectively about the broad issues at hand.

Nobody loots because of a movement. They loot to steal things.

Just goes to prove ANY moron can write a book and SOME moron will endorse it. The Huff-n-Puff Post makes the defunct Weekly World News look like Scripture.

Looters and rioters are absolutely undermining the movement. Regardless of how you feel about this BLM movement nobody who isn't a hypocrite is ok with folks looting and burning cities.

I use the word hypocrite because not a single home or business owner who supports the riots would be ok with the rioters burning down and looting THEIR home or business.

Direct quote from Vicki... “In Defense of Looting” was born out of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014 and 2015. “This book only exists because the rebels in Ferguson showed us all the way,” Osterweil told HuffPost.

Showed us the way. The way to what? Undermine society? To inculcate a measure of active fear in citizens who dare stand up to cultism mobs and their tyranny?

What does this woman want? Ghost towns down town as folks flee from the violence? Bombed out ghettos like those left from '68 and 69? Is Vicki just a really selfish real estate agent looking to land bank the fire sales that will ultimately ensue? Hard to say. But for her, this violence "shows us the way". Whatever that way is.

I couldn't agree more. Looters will take advantage of any situation in which authorities are engaged elsewhere to make their profit. Be it a crowd celebrating after winning the Superbowl or NBA, or a peaceful protest. This doesn't mean that the fans of the team that won the Superbowl are looters.

You said it well... looters have nothing to do with any movement. Be it a political movement or a sports movement. They're just there to steal.

Yup. But according to the actual radicals and apologists they are stealing out of "desperation". Or better yet they are stealing as repayment for past wrongdoings, IE reparations. Or they are burning down establishments as a way to release built up anger and frustration and get the attention of society...

The level to which some have tried to justify this is astonishing to say the least.

Of course they are undermining it. Every person, no matter who they are, that is out there committing vandadlism, theft, and violence are human garbage. Some were always garbage of course, the types of people who "just want to watch the world burn", but others think they are being righteous out of some grossly perverted sense of justice and balance and entitlement. It only helps themselves. All of those acts by their nature tend to be completely self-serving.

So, it's nice to see you write this. Even with the equivocation. The baffling thing here is this idea that the looting is what advances, or shows the way to, future protesters, or participants. Its like this woman thinks this is a training seminar, and these are KPIs that demonstrate success or something.

I know of one lady who expressed that narrative. It's nonsense! You can always find some nut who will say the most absurd things. They are irrelevant. They do provide a talking point to those who oppose civil rights, but nothing more than that.

Or, at least, they're irrelevant unless they are carrying guns. Or they are the President* of the United States, who also has a tendency to go with that type of narratives.

No idea what "equivocation" you are talking about.

I don't know which woman you are talking about. I'm commenting on the remarks made by the poster.

I don't recall the President of the United States ever making a statement even remotely implying that the rioting and looting was justified under any circumstances.

And the problem with a narrative like that is the fact that the rioting and looting is always painted as a "vocal minority" within the movement. Yet since the very beginning of the "movement" that began en masse earlier this year the rioting and burning and looting is been the norm, not the exception to the norm. More documentation of pure civil unrest and anarchy has been presented than peaceful protesting. So either all media outlets regardless of political bias are all collectively refusing to show the peaceful part of the movement in the media or the peaceful protesters have refused to show up and gave way to the rioters. Or the movement isn't as peaceful as being claimed and the vocal minority of the movement isn't actually the minority after all.

Maybe not rioting and looting (I say "maybe" because I don't recall). But "roughing up" and "punching" opponents in the face i would call "of that kind". As would many other narratives like making a moral equivalence between fascists and anti-fascists. Or watering down institutional racism. And many many more. I would definitely consider those of "the kind" of some random citizen. Especially when expressed by the President* of the United States

I don't know who paints it that way. As the poster I responded to correctly points out, they are not "within the movement". They are just... thieves.

The movement is as peaceful as is humanly possible in public demonstrations looking to forward a cause that is absolutely justified and has been ignored for so many decades. Some lady praising looters doesn't represent "the movement". As far as the media, I assume what you are watching is Fox. In their case you are correct. They do refuse to show the peaceful part. Which is by far, the immense majority of what I've seen. The clips with violence get played and replayed more often, of course... Because peaceful protest is the norm. And the norm is not news. The exception is. But the only ones who have attempted to conflate the two has been the right wingnut media: Fox, Rush, Breitbart, ...

And herein lies the issue I have with that statement. We have no factual data to back that up it's all just speculation. I've been hearing this statement presented for months that the real BLM movement is peaceful and the rioters and looters are not part of said movement and/or they make up a vocal minority within it. However, regardless of what side of the spectrum a news agency falls NONE of them are providing much evidence of these peaceful protests. Regardless of whether it's CNN, MSNBC, Fox, BBC, NY Times and so on, all they are presenting to the public are the violent riots.

This isn't the "right wing media" trying to taint the perception of this by only showing the violence, this is the "left wing media" doing the same thing as well as all those in between. As I say all the time I deal in facts and evidence. I have simply yet to see much evidence of peaceful protesting anywhere. Perhaps the media regardless of political affiliation cares more about the dollar bill than making their own team look bad by showing only violence in favor of peaceful protests for ratings. Perhaps the peaceful protesters have simply stopped protesting in lieu of the violence. Perhaps the notion of the BLM movement being overwhelming peaceful is simply incorrect. Or any combination of the above. We simply don't know.

I'd like to see some actual evidence of large scale peaceful protests outnumbering large scale riots. I have yet to see that presented anywhere. The evidence that I have, we all have, is the news, and the news regardless of medium is all showing roughly the same thing. And the reasons WHY that is the case is purely subjective speculation on the part of any of us, not objective fact.

Let's be clear. Whether or not BLM is "peaceful" is a nonsensical question. Every single movement to obtain profound change in society has started out with peaceful protests and peaceful demands. And they go violent only when they are left no choice. Whether BLM is "peaceful" or not is not the issue. The have been peaceful so far. They have called for peaceful protests. They believe right now that peaceful protests are the way to obtain their goals.

But make no mistake about it: they may be wrong!!! And that's what you should be worried about.

I hope they're not wrong. But I have lived through this before. Mostly in other countries. We here in this country live in this "bubble" that can easily explode. It HAS exploded in many places an at many points in history.

This is not like the Tea Party.. a bunch of weirdos who opposed Obamacare but didn't even understand what it was they were opposing. This is a whole ethnic group that is soon to become the majority ethnic group in this country.

You expect them to just sit back and accept being the target of cops who are part of an racially biased institution that will target them for the rest of their lives. They will not!

So thank God for BLM, that keeps them for the most part peaceful. But they will not be able to keep it this way forever. You need to look at history. The struggle of our colonies for equal rights with the British were peaceful... until they weren't. Viet Nam protests were peaceful... until they weren't. French peasants peacefully protested the abuses of the monarchy, until the weren't peaceful anymore. Nicaraguans protested the Somoza dictatorship peacefully, until they took arms against it.

The question is NOT if the movement is peaceful or not. That is naive B.S. We better pray to God (even us atheists) that it is peaceful.

The question is if it's RIGHT. If what they demand is fair.

If it's fair, we damn well give them what they want. Because this won't stop just by denying that the problem is real.

It is ONLY when people are left with no other choice that they resort to violence. But if their demand is fair, they will resort to violence. And at that point there are two options: either they will get what they want by force. Or we succumb into a repressive dictatorship. Like the Soviet Union, Cuba, Pinochet's Chile, Franco's Spain, Mao's China....

The number of examples is endless.

So let's stop this nonsense about whether or not BLM is peaceful or not. They are! And so long as they have a choice, they will keep being peaceful. But that is the wrong question.

The question we need to answer is : are they right?

If you wanted to see that, you should have stopped watching Fox. Peaceful protests are everywhere. You just needed to look. But, again, that is not the question we should be asking.

The question is: are their demands justified? Because if they are... they will get them... one way or another. I don't think this is a country that will tolerate a dictatorship. But the attempt to impose one WOULD produce violence like you have never seen before.

A real vagina. Check out "her" picture. Not even trying to look like a woman.
    upload_2020-9-6_10-47-46.png

Too bad that Vicki is not even down with her own message. In "her" book, we get the following:
    upload_2020-9-6_10-49-55.png

The book title is clearly misleading. Vicki is down with looting other people but clearly doesn't believe she herself should be looted. So the book title should be amended to "In Defense of My Group Looting Others".

The hypocrisy of the left has reached comical proportions.

Jackasses sitting in the middle of the freeway getting maced. If the people who lives they are disrupting had their way, I am pretty sure macing would be the least of their concerns. Are protesters the only people with rights? Do ordinary USEFUL Americans have any rights? Do these asshats have free rein to do anything they want to us? At what point are we allowed to respond with equal or greater violence to the relentless violence they inflict on us?

The hypocrisy of the left has reached epic proportions.

Those who loot and riot and foment insurrection should be incarcerated for a long time. Those who attend a political gathering or demonstration carrying a loaded weapon should be arrested on the spot, they are not carrying it because they are peace loving.

The only thing looters should be is dead and buried. They serve no purpose but to destroy and should be dealt with like the vermin that they are.
