I think the kid is likely a pumped-up wannabe. He's pudgy and awkward, and he may have been mixing it up with militants who are a lot tougher than he is.

He was chased by people (militants?) in the two shooting incidents. I think in both situations he may well have been acting in fear he would be beaten or killed, although the second incident in the street is more persuasive. His behavior after the first incident where he phones an acquaintance instead of 9-1-1 seems odd to me and I don't know what to make of it.

that was after he killed someone and was trying to flee though right, when people were trying to take him down and dis-arm him?

Not the way things work according to some of his defenders who think it's okay for a 17-year-old to carry an AR-15, but it's not okay for police to question him without his parents' okay.

Much like an even more socially-awkward version of Holden Caufield.

    Who knows?

He was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time and illegally carrying a weapon.

That said, I am willing to let the legal system run it's course.

Obviously, the kid's supporters are playing up the "self-defense" angle.

But, why was he there in the first place? Carrying illegally?

If he was spoiling for a fight as a cold-blooded killer, he put himself into a rather tight spot in being chased down the middle of a street.
Can he claim self-defense if he was violating curfew and illegally carrying an AR-15?

Still won't say shooting paintballs at protesters is wrong?

again it all depends. Certainly unprovoked and for no reason it is.

but if i’m simply driving my car down the road in a counterprotest and a group of leftwing violent terrorist who have rioting for 90 days attack...i think it’s fine.

Yeah, I figured something like this was coming... using the kid as a test case to try and make some RW point.

He's so ****ed, he doesn't have any idea what's coming

    SNIP
Rittenhouse’s attorney, John Pierce of Pierce Bainbridge, plans to fight the underage weapons possession charge, arguing that at 17, his client could be part of the “well regulated Militia” mentioned in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Put another way, Pierce will likely argue that Wisconsin’s ban on firearms possession by 17-year-olds is unconstitutional because a 17-year-old minor is on the same Second Amendment footing as an adult.

Fighting the most minor of the charges is all well and good, but the kid is also on trial for 2 homocide charges..

I'm pretty sure the founding fathers didn't write a "well regulated Militia" meant sending armed teenagers on the streets to foment violence..

    What constitutes being provoked?
Of course, you wouldn't know who has been "rioting for 90 days" and this makes you part of the problem.

So, if you point a paintball gun at me, is it okay for me to take you out with a Mossberg 500?

No, it's not okay to react to non-lethal force with lethal force, and that's why the "100% Antifa" psycho is going down hard for executing a guy who shot peeper spray at him.

Now, If I charge at you with clearly hostile intent, land a dropkick on you, or smash you with a skateboard, then yup, it's A-Okay for you to blast me out of my shoes with a scattergun.

    f

All sorts of things....stuff being thrown at me, blocking passage, firebombing, assaults etc,,you know the stuff the left wing terrorist have been doing in Portland

Of course I know who's been rioting....turn the news on Portland been this way for months.

Paintball guns are nonlethal force.....so no...no reasonable person would be in fear of their life and justifiy a deadly response. I would check your state's law on self-defense

So, just so we're clear, if Gaige had shot the kid in the head with his handgun while the kid was on the ground pointing his weapon at him immediately after he shot the other guy, would that also be self-defense?

I'm not familiar with the situation you're referring to.

    Please explain.

Well, arming oneself, travellign to another state to join a protest known for violence is not self-defense either. It may not be first-degree murder, but it's not self-defense.

Yes, probably. Would've been hard to prove, because he did chase Kyle down, but self defense would probably have worked.

    Moot point.

Too bad he was too slow on the draw. And by "bad", I mean good.

Depends on what happens on the ground. Certainly if I was going to go to some place that I knew was violent, like Portland or whatever, I would want to bring something for self-defense in case it was needed

Fair enough... you're wrong on self defense for the kid, but you are consistent anyway....

He wasn't slow on the draw... he just didn't have the DNA of a killer...

    Too bad is right....

He didn't travel to another state for violence. He went to work that morning to his job in Wisconsin. So saying he crossed state lines to engage in violence is false.
